The peace keeprs

I recall some talk about this event in the pass but I cannot find it.

I am playing TOA version 2 I am doing very well. It looks like I am gonna win but I still have 2 opponents. Now this events pops up. I never had it before.

It says it will attack any warship outside it's area of influence. All of my ships were inside at the time. I was at peace. First thing that happens is they start distroying everything that belongs to me. They are really powerful too. I had frigates with 50 attack. They had fleets of three ships with 530 attack. They had lots of these. I tried to play it some more but before long my entire infrastructure was gone.  I lost the game.

Is it normal that they attack even though I was in my area of influence or is it a bug? As for the rest I guess it's tough luck for me :(

Thanks for your input.

They'll take out anything that's armed.  If you attack them, they will proceed to destroy anything of yours that isn't armed, too.  This is how the event works; it's just worded wrong.

A long long time ago on normal difficulty, I ran into a Peacekeeper event that can only be described as a plague.  Fleets of 15-20 huge hull ships sporting 400 attack/1400 defense (I forget which of which but at that point does it really even matter anymore?), for a grand total of up to 8000 attack/28000 defense per fleet.

It really didn't help that I was >500,000,000BC in debt at the time, either.

I suppose it wasn't as bad as it could've been-no AI could fight them, as they had matched their defenses to them, and I had no ships, so the only things I lost were a few...heavily upgraded and fortified...mining starbases...

But then I had to build something to take them down, and that was the hard part.

I think they only attack if you're at war, or attack anyone after they show up.  I had a Peacekeeper event a few games ago, I wasn't at war with anyone at the time and they did not attack any of my ships or starbases.  I had a good time bribing everyone else into attacking someone and getting their fleets and starbases wiped out, then taking over their resources.

From what I've read in past threads, the Peacekeeper event doesn't work the way it says and maybe not even the way it was supposed to. In every case, the Peacekeepers will destroy everything. On the plus side they go after the AIs too. So if you have the event you're best bet is to go for a tech victory I suppose. Or maybe build very very fast transports to try to get AI planets.

I love events I even set the slider to lots.

I guess I just was not prepared for something that bad. Do they leave after a while or do we have to kill every last one of them?

i don't they ever leave. You would have to find a way to kill them all or go for a different victory condition.  I wonder if they woukd go after assention crystal bases.

I always wondered if it would be possible for say, the pirates to show up and have a war with the peace keepers.

I think the event might be better if it scaled to the current state of the game. Even if its still overpowered, as it should be, it shouldn't be game ending. Maybe the peace keepers have a copy of every war ship in the game at the time they show up... or 2x that.

It's a Mega event, and those are intended to be complete game-changers. I've read several old threads about it, had it a few times, and never really thought that the design intent might be to force a player aimed at a war win to choose another victory type. That seems plausible.
