Stardock Central Status: 5-15

Just a head's up SDC's backend server is going to be down a bit during the next 24 hour while we install some security patches. Just wanted to let you know in case you're wondering why getting updates is problematic. ;)

Probably more like cautious admins. I like to sandbag on time just in case something could (and oftentimes does) go wrong

As someone who recently pulled an all-nighter at work and spent 8 hours doing what normally takes 2, I can understand the caution.

Installing an XML module required a huge long chain of required upgrades. By the time I was done, almost none of the software was the same as when we had started, including the OS version.

And the worst part is that there's quite a bit of testing involved when you're done. I spent 3 hours after that 8 tracking down problems that had been tested on the "identical" testbed machine. At least the testbed machine had told me just what software was going to need to be upgraded, for the most part.

Just a little question:

Has somebody else noticed a compatibility problem between Stardock Central and Win 98?

I tried SDC now on three (!) Win 98 systems and it didn't work... Just crashes when I start loader.exe.

I run SDC with Win98SE. No issues here.

I also run SDC with Win98SE with no issues even though the processor doesn't meet minimum requirements.
