How does the AI reuse players ship designs ?
I´ve read somewhere that the AI can reuse the players ship design but I have never, ever seen that happen. Does anyone know if it works ? I am talking about the original GalCiv 2 here....

Hmm, as far as I know, AI can use your ships if they have the tech for that and it's better than others.
Have anyone actually seen the AI use a ship name you have invented ? I have never seen it. I would be extremely nice to see the AI use those againt the player....
That would be indeed interesting to fight my own designs. I wonder what would happen to deleted designs, too - I often delete some depending on tech development since I hate to clog up my shipyard with designs I won't use.
Could the AI use a design I scrapped a few turns ago ? (it should be able to regardless if it uses player designs I'd guess).
I've never seen the AI build ships even close to what I designed.
The only thing I've seen the AI pick up from me has been planet design. If I build a bunch of planets a certain way, the AI will sometimes copy the layout and order that I built them. I can build over 10,000 identical ships and the AI won't copy them though.
Fascinating. Were you seeing that before the spy units came into the game?
Do you mean before DA? No, I never noticed them copying my planets in DL. Maybe the spy units have something to do with it.
It sounds like the computer is using a banked spy unit to scan your empire, which is sweet if it's true. I've had some sympathy with folks who talk about the "cheese" factor of looking at a planet in spy placement mode without actually placing a spy. But if the computer is doing it also, well, then it comes down to whether you can tell yourself an acceptable story about how that "really" works.
