The only thing I really don't understand about economics system is this...

...why can't I fully fund all my branches?

Let's say I have a colony, it can produce 24mp and 20rp.  But I would never get 'em all out, cause I can have or 24mp, or 20rp, or 12mp+10rp, or anything in between. Thing is, I can't come up with the reason why. I mean, I pay for every produced mp or rp from my treasury, then why limit me in my spendings?

My point: instead of sharing 100%, the Mil/Soc/Res sliders should be separate 0-100% grade. Shouldn't they?

And yes, they should be on every planet, not just global ones.

As I understand this system the factories, social, and research facilities production is adjusted from a total basket measured in bc's.  In essence instead of your factories turning out new buildings and/or ships it's production can be converted to research and vice versa.  Hence, if you need to crunch through some research divert a larger portion of this combined basket to research.  The overall all effect on bc's shows up indirectly as a consequence of where on the slider the indicators are located.  Towards the left or right.

This allows you to spend down a large bc balance when needed to fund a production or research push.  Or, rebuild account balances by "selling off" more of your economy's production for bc's instead of consuming it.  Your suggestion wouldn't allow a means of spending down account balances to speed up research or social spending.

I'd recommend reading this thread to 'grasp' the entire issue behind values distribution of, not only economic impacts, but also MANY situations involved.
