Custom Portraits Pointless?

Is there any use for using custom portraits?

 

I love the idea of creating my own race, with me at the head of it, but something bothers me. If I select a custom portrait for my race(me), the only time I see it is at the custom race creation screen. It does not appear anywhere else while playing the game. I see my custom race logo, but the portrait is absent from being shown anywhere in the game.

 

Am I missing something, or is using a custom portrait pretty pointless?

Pretty much. It did actually appear on one of the civ manager screens way back in the DL beta, but I think at some point that screen got redone and nobody realized that was the only place the image showed. 8C

Yup a completely stupid oversight by the devs. How hard would it be to have it showe up in the UI during the galactic council meetings? Please give us some reason to bother with it guys.... :thumbsdown:
