ANZAC Empire, 'Bridging the Ditch' Thread

Yes Well... *cough* I was a little tired of posting on the Aussie Empire thread. ;)

*Intentionally cheesy opening Address*

So gather round all you ANZAC Citizens, Lend Me Your Ears... and your games, Forget whether your accent is more nasally than your neighbours and Post those Gigantic Games on Masochistic Difficulty! *pause for applause* Now Begone and play Galactic Civilizations till you starve, then play some more! Think GalCiv, Dream GalCiv, (Breath GalCiv?) ...Be THE GalCiv! and return only when you have defeated the evil intergalactic minions that plague us and halt our advance up the metaverse board.

*cough*

Yup, Let's beat em Guys.

To light up the street, make it a safer more inviting neighborhood.

Now how could a great Rock-in-Roll band type name be perjoritive.? It certainly sounds alot cooler than Impune Lace it. By the way what are you lacing? Tennis shoes?

Hey 4D - Kylie....old?...saggy?...NOOOOOOOO!!!! The most famous ass in the world? Say it isn't so!

On other news, Chris and Pontius seem to be continuing their fractured relationship spanning space, time zones and multiple threads, the software developers are still at E3, the ANZAC Empire flourishes while the noxious denizens of GROSS flounder despite a spin machine in full press, and the Aussie cricket team still wins every game it plays.

Cheers, mate!

"and the Aussie cricket team still wins every game it plays."

Sports 'discussion' is probably the prime motive for interglactic warfare... I wonder if the Drengin Rugby team lost too many times to the Terran Alliance and finally decided to declare war outright? Maybe someone should make a Sports MOD for GalCiv and instead of ships have intergalactic BALLS charging round the screen and the planets can be portaits (albeit rather 'rounded') of famous sportsman in ANZAC history. (I'm using the inclusive cause I don't want to start a Flamewar between our *cough* 'peaceful' *splutter* nations)

Hmmm.. No I didn't consume any weird beverages this evening... But I am wondering how this could be a good idea? ...Sigh, Maybe it's a subconcious need to read my own words on a public forum rather than just listen to my own voice in my head?

*mutter* sleep I think.

Ahhh, its time to come clean. Gather 'round ANZAC mates (that includes you Pontinus)- this is for your eyes only. I am a fraud and a counterfeit. I am returning my Top 25 medal BEFORE it is stripped from me (Just kidding about the medal heh heh. 'Out of my cold, dead hands' eh). Got your interest? OK. I finally upgraded to version 1.35 and started a large map on masochistic. All my tried-and-true strategies went out the window. I see now that the game makers are better than I thought. Damn. Any advice you read concerning tactics and strategies is very dependent upon map size, game version, and difficulty level. In a sense this states the obvious, but, respect to those (think Staffa etc) who can play MANY games masochistically. Example: I have a trading game style, but no civ will trade my techs/goods for sensible amounts of bc (For my Aphrodisiac, the Arceans would give me either 4 bc for 1 turn, or 9 techs; alternatively the Scottlingas would give 5bc for 3 turns for my 7 techs). I have to think up different strategies. :sniff!: If you haven't already realised, all of the posts about the Torians always doing this, or the Drengins always doing that, are totally subjective. I can't recommend more strongly, that when you reach your comfort level at this game, go a level higher (unless of-course you just play to relax like I do with MOO3). Has anyone-else copped a beating when they upgraded/went up a level?Happy Galcivving!

Hey, don't sweat - I'm not good enough at the game to take issue with the way anyone else plays. I must say that computing today does inspire an obsessive/compulsive trait, though - I'm forever making sure I have the latest patch/driver for vid card, sound, critical updates, whatever. When I bought GalCiv I just autoupdated on StarDock and presume I'm playing on the latest version. I think we're victims of Stardock's brilliant support, although I would not really like to get to the stage of games like Diablo, where a patch would very significantly alter character viability, play balance, etc. I think we need to recognise the danger of breaking something that didn't need fixing in the first place!

Cheers!

Ha!! We're gaining ground baby. Fewest games in of any of the top 10 but yet we're still gaining.
Chris: I warned you 1.35 would be harder. Since 1.4 is out next week and it takes me 3 hours to download, I'll probably wait till then.

[Sigh] Thanks for the back rub Space Wombat.
I've noted that a few Galcivvers have squawked as updates have changed things. Now that I'm playing a hymen level, and have played every map, I can see how hymen it is to balance a game at every difficulty level and for each size misty.

Oh, and Pontius, you will not get a rise out of me by shoving Misty Hymen in my face all the time. I have learnt to totally ignore your jibes. ;p

I still cant see how you can finish a gigantic game in a few hours if you actually play the game (I can understand how to achieve tech victory by doing not much more than hitting the turn key but I already have to work for a living and so I like my gaming to be fun)

Kiwi Greg: I agree completely - I'm currently trying a gigantic game (on a low difficulty level), partly after encouragement from one of your earlier posts. I've got 38% of the galaxy and am basically trying to build enough infrastructure and defence to wall myself off while I search for the final frontier (although I prefer to call it Transcend - I'm an old Alpha Centauri player). If you're going to do it efficiently and still defend when the other civs come calling, it takes time and planning, waves of research followed by waves of building, colonising, etc. and I'm sure it would take MUCH longer going for a cultural victory - it's tricky to see how the Metaverse rewards these sort of efforts equally on a point score basis.

Kylie who? Hey Chris. I was forced to download 1.35a when my 1.31 pretty much imploded. I'm playing Masochist now. Holding my own. Nip and tuck. It's not whooping me though.

I feel for you Pontius, I really do. To be deprived of the knowledge of that ass is almost a crime... ;)

Kylie who?

Ah, Pontius...just to give you another opinion, I think it was Kylie doing a duet with Justin Timberlake at some awards ceremony recently. When asked to rate Kylie's ass, Justin replied: "On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 53."

A wet hymen is no match for the Ass of Kylie.

Bah she is a scrawny runt - give me a woman with some meat on her bones.

Elle Macpherson - now there was (as they say in the US) a biscuit :)

Greg. Put a Girl in hotpants and these Aussies will go Berzerk.

Is she one of the miriad of of barely post pubescent rocker girls these days a-la Brittany Spears?

Whoa... Deja-Vu. Glitch in the Matrix. Look sharp boys. First one that gets us out of here gets Trinity for desert after our glue slop dinner tonight.
I'm off to see that tonight.

Who is "she"?

Kylie Minogue was a juvenile soap actor who parleyed that and a remake of "locomotion" into something of a pop career (I believe her nickname was something like the "Aussie Budgerigar sp?)" - no doubt one of the Aussies will correct me.

Elle Macpherson was (is) a model (nickname "the body") who parleyed that into a minor film career (Sirens) and an enormously profitable lingerie franchise.
LOL How many remakes of Locomotion do we need. Now I know who Kylie is. You're right Greg, Elle is much more of a "Bisquit" Though lets face it. None of us have a chance at either. HEHE.

I admit she is young... but just because u might have gotten a 'little' past the post-pubescent stage yourself Pontius doesn't mean that they're not attractive. I'd take Brittany over Kylie anyday *cough*
