ANZAC Empire, 'Bridging the Ditch' Thread

Yes Well... *cough* I was a little tired of posting on the Aussie Empire thread. ;)

*Intentionally cheesy opening Address*

So gather round all you ANZAC Citizens, Lend Me Your Ears... and your games, Forget whether your accent is more nasally than your neighbours and Post those Gigantic Games on Masochistic Difficulty! *pause for applause* Now Begone and play Galactic Civilizations till you starve, then play some more! Think GalCiv, Dream GalCiv, (Breath GalCiv?) ...Be THE GalCiv! and return only when you have defeated the evil intergalactic minions that plague us and halt our advance up the metaverse board.

*cough*

Yup, Let's beat em Guys.

Hehe I was thinking of doing the same thing!!

I will try and remain inspired until I finish work for the day :)

Wow... Out of the trenches and on to the stars! You've inspired me. Now if only I didn't have a job. And we've had the ANZAC day holiday already. Damn. ;)

What does ANZAC stand for?
Australia and New Zealand Army Corps

First formed in World War One when the British sacrificed our best and brightest on the shores of Gallipoli.

It's not like they were picking on us or anything... after all, they sacrificed their own best and brightest as well. In fact, there was a general kind of "let's all chuck our young chaps into a muddy ditch and let them get blown up" sort of craze right across Europe around then, wasn't there?

Yes, there was, and it was bloody as heck. But, that was the new fighting style, and a wake-up call to the world.

General Monash wasn't it. Combined arms, tanks and infantry and arty working really close together I think.

wow the glorious ANZAC Empire is now number 5! Well done guys, I can't wait to get them game and help out with the effort! (should be coming today!)

Hi guys,
I have been in the ANZAC Empire for a while and started playing a large normal game last night(ok give me a break im not that good) and i think i might not go to school tommrow so i can get it finished ;p
Im really impressed with everybody putting in and last time i checked we are the No. 5 empire kicking ass!
I just want to apoligise for not having a decent score but school and sport get in the way :notsure:
But i should have some larger games on the way :D

Don't Apologise Sandabar... You've been playing Tiny and Small Maps, Of course your scores aren't going to be as good as ppl who are playing Gigantic Maps... Now go Kicketh the Alien Ass-eth!

All Australians who follow swimming- and that's everyone, have nightmares above Misty Hymen in her *hot* swimwear. :sniff!: Poor Suzie.

Sandabar: Don't you dare miss school. Citizen 4D shouldn't be encouraging you in such behaviour.

And hello to our new members. :)

What an unfortunate last name for her during her school years.

I now feel guilty that I haven't been playing many games and letting my side down =(.
My score went backwards for the last game I entered. Grrrumph!!
Went from 1403.1 to 1400.1
I thought that wasn't possible :(
excuse me... but... Who IS Misty Hymen?

And I do quite agree Jeatalong, It would be an unfortunate name to have during school years... or ANY time! Think of the nicknames.... Urrrghh! No... Actually Don't... I will NOT visualise....

Your score can go down if you post a low score - I only found this out because I posted all mine win or "lose" (actuallu never played to the end but you can lose easy enough by just giving all your planets away). I (wrongly) figured that all scores would be accretive to your overall score.

This is not the case - the total of your scores is divided by an increasing number based on the number of games you submit - so if you submit a significantly "below average" score it can drag your total down.

There is a long thread on this somewhere.

Yep lets skew the scores to our advantage :p

Anyway my lone 700 has been added to the mix. Not much but it helps, though I did take it easy on the Yor ;)

A win is a win Instigation!! Didnt even know they had computers in the Northern Territories - that implies you must have electricity as well? ;p

Cataleptic - I notice all your recent winds have been tech - any hints you want to share other than the obvious?
yes we have electricity, but if the plant workers have had a particulary hard night on the booze then expect to be using candles the next day ;)

LOL - we always used to tell the Americans that we had to take turns in our village to run the treadmill to keep the generator going...
Oh please, not even our American friends would have fallen for that! Er, did they?
My understanding is that your game scores are totalled and then divided by the square root of the number of games played. So a score of 9,000 over 9 games would be 9,000 divided by 3 = 3,000. Clear as mud? So don't play those tiny games for a score. BUT, my understanding is that every game score is added cumulatively to their Empire, so that's cool.

Misty Hymen in her *hot* swimwear beat Suzie O'Neill in a 2000 Olympic race over a distance that Our Suzie OWNED. Unfortunately, and I'm beginning to think that this may be symptomatic of G.R.O.S.S., (think, the basest mental cruelty only the young employ) in a distraught moment as she tried to recruit me, I once mentioned this to Pontius. I've deeply regretted this ever since. Damn you Pontius. >:(

..maybe

So far I have been asked:

Why isnt the kiwi dollar worth a dollar?
(how to you explain international finance to someone who needs to ask this question)

What do we do to celebrate Thanksgiving in New Zealand?
(hmmm, we are thankful they landed at Plymouth Rock and not the Bay of Islands)

Isnt summer the same time in the southern hemisphere, its just cold?
(Americans use the seasons as part of their calender and she assumed that, you know it is January all over the world at the same time so it must be winter all over the world at the same time)

Isnt it lonely living in a country so far away form everything else?
(not while we have our sheep)

..and let's not even get into the geographical conclusion about the location of New Zealands (yes, it is in Europe, near Denmark, and its also up near Canadan [took me a while to figure that one - Newfoundland is what they meant] and yes it is the same as Australia).

When you have everything its pretty easy to not give a crap about the rest of the world :)

Hmmm ... have to wonder how much help I'm being then.
I don't like Gigantic games - it takes too long to do anything! Tiny/Small games are much more interesting.
On the other hand, I don't really like playing anything higher than Intelligent Aliens - I can micromanage to the level required to keep vaguely on top of things at the higher levels but I just don't want to play that way.
I like to be able to keep my sliders set the same way for more than a couple of turns at a time :)
