Can I just share with you how much pleasure I get from reading some of the witty threads. Not to mention the sense of *fun* evident in many of them. And you get to read ALL sorts of personalities (some having really bad hair days). Pontius and Bongo (whatever its name is) strike the right cord: I mean, it is a game after all.

Despite the scoring anomalies (ahem) already discussed in another thread, I think the Metaverse is a *nice* idea for a non-multi player game. And the score issue is not as significant when you join an Empire and all of your score is added to the Empire. ie Every little score counts!

On the topic of Empires, is it just me, or do others have a mental image of the Empire membership? May I be *cheeky* here and say that-
Apolyton: makes me think of crusty old men sipping cognac in leather armchairs whilst debating obtuse strategical tactics they once employed in World War I board games.
European Alliance: I don't have a coherent image of their membership, but that's probably accurate.
Imperia Galactica: Sitting in a darkened room (during the day) in front of a flickering black and white TV watching endless repeats of very old SF series.
Gone Golders: Has to be The Golden Girls.
Shoot Club: Charleton Heston.
Arnor: Filled with the game makers (bow, scrape) and a few invitees who are bewildered by why they can't play their game any better or get those high scores.
Canadian Star Federation: The Canadians do try, but really...
G.R.O.S.S.: Has all the young bloods who I would want on my side if we ever did meet up with slimy aliens (rather than loving, caring, sharing aliens).
Mid-Western Confederation: Is it States or a state of mind?

Kiwi. I use Pontius in the English (adjective) sense of the word not the Latin proper name. I am a licenced Pilot and the mascot of my college is the Bruins.

It just seemed to fit that the leader of an empire bent on controlling everything would have a pontius (not emporer. I should have left the first p short. Wonder If I could change my name. Definitely a source of confusion.

I know. I'll change it to Misty Hymen!!! Oh boy would Christopher get a kick out of it.

Pontius, you are pure evil. I LOVE 'Frenchy and the Lap Poodles'. I would use it with them, but have you noticed how Europeans have *no* sense of humour? Honestly, if words could kill...

I was thinking about creating another character for the Metaverse called Misty Hymen, but then I thought I might be barred for profanity. ;p

Now appearing at the European Alliance website Comedy thread: Impune and G force debate the relative merits of Polarized prong left vs polarized prong right installation of electrical outlets.

I've met several Europeans with a sense of humor. None of em seem to be in the European-Alliance empire, however.

Well,... yes. :D Plus, some of us have really long and arcane discussions on games they have created but which is not really even in alpha yet. Or it is. Or there is a demo or two somewhere.

Borrowing from LOTR, Imperium Galactica is in my opinion personified by the Wizards, continually trying to push the brackets of magic in their ivory towers, all the while watching worldly pursuits with much bemusement.

I can see Elvish and Entish empires among us, either reclusive or hibernating, deep in their slumber.

There are also rowdier Orcish, Dwarven and Human empires fighting it out on the plains of Middle Earth.

Lastly, the laid back Hobbit empires smoking their pipes.

It would be interesting if we moved from space, regional themed empires to fantasy based ones, especially LOTR to complement Arnor.

CORRECTION:

Our Alliance has merged no Empires, just one, member, Adelbert, previously had an Empire. And we are the fastest climbing Empire in metaverse history, just go to our thread and you will see the escalation.

RayChua, now you are just being silly. You KNOW that the whole of Middle Earth is alive and well in Kiwi land. Ipso facto, all of the Elves (including that hot Galadriel chick), Hobbits, Dwarves, and definitely the Orcs and Goblins, are in the ANZAC Empire.

And Impune, "Pride goeth before a fall" (whatever that means). ;p

It would be interesting if we moved from space, regional themed empires to fantasy based ones, especially LOTR to complement Arnor.


Our empire is Calvin and Hobbes (a very popular comic strip here in the states space themed). We already have a "fantasy theme" Though not LOTR type.
