Nope not even close. They may require their own individual tactics and strategies but the fact is pushing buttons isn't a skill. Now mind you I have been a gamer since I was 6 years old. (that is 24 years of video gaming 6 or more hours a day so far...except days the wife gets a hold of me but that is a different discussion) Regardless none of these things take skill, sure they might require some coherent thought and some might require some quick reaction times. Yet the fact remains that these are not "skills". A paraplegic could handle the coherent thought, and strategy parts. Where as almost any ADD afflicted 9 year old can handle the reaction times. The only thing I am certain of is that the thing you were certain of is wrong. Its like someone saying that it takes skill to walk outside and fly a kite. There is either wind or there isn't. Sure you can run with the kite behind you and make it fly but so can my dog if I tie the damn thing to his tail.
Part of Guild Wars is choosing what skills to use. There are hundereds of them, but you can only have eight at a time, and outside a city they're locked. There is some thought needed as to what skills you're going to need in which areas and against which opponents. I don't know how you measure "skill," but out of all of the MMORPGs I've played with over the years, it does seem to be one that requires more thought than others.
WoW, on the other hand, is a bit more of a "button masher," although that is offset somewhat by a required cooldown of all actions, so you're not really rewarded that much by spamming something quickly. Still, I would agree that WoW isn't particularly skillful.

In WOW's case? 50-60 cents a day for a game I was willing to play for around 4hrs a day? That is a bargain.
My personal opinion is that I would prefer to pay a flat subscription fee rather than playing a "free" game where you have to pay for the premium content therefore creating a clear distintion between the haves and have-nots.
I would NOT pay any ongoing fee for a game that does not provide regular content releases for my money.
As for someone saying that games don't take skill? What else would you call the top players of a game? Professionals? The best?
Dragoaskani's example of flying a kite is a perfect example of a skill. Not every person can even get a kite to stay in the air even on a windy day let alone use the strings in the right manner to perform tricks.
It takes skill to use a kite.
It takes skill to master a game.
It takes skill to tie your shoe laces or count to 10.
Not all skills are of equal complexity.
A paraplegic should be able to handle reaction times in a video game as well as you or I.
