Does the AI ever pick Good, Evil Or Neutral?

After 15 games, I can't remeber an AI opponent *ever* picking a side.  Which makes the technologies giving you bonuses for other ethics a total waste.  I've even traded a tech for lots of money to make sure they could afford it, then traded them xeno ethics.  Nothing.

Anyone else ever get them to go one way or the other? They always *act* like they know (good tends to attack evil, etc) but they are always just "leaning good" or evil; they never select it.

I have seen them go beyond "leaning" toward an alignment and actually picking one. I assume that they all picked what they were supposed to.

However I have yet to see the AI construct any of the one-of-a-kind alignment specific structures. NLC's are the most I've seen from the AI. So if you're good or neutral, don't count on having a chance to conquer a planet with a mind control center or anything like that.

I saw an AI almost build the neutral structure that gives money for other neutrals' tourism income, but thats about it.

It seems more that they never research Xeno Ethics. I am currently in a game where I allowed tech trading and after researching Xeno Ethics I traded it to all the computers (sometimes for nothing). The next turn they had all chosen an ethical alignment.

>>event that chenges the Ethics <<

I'm seeing this a lot - weird to see good Yor and evil Torians... At least 1 race has flipped in every TOA game I've played so far (all 3 of them

At higher difficulties (not sure which one it starts on), the AI's do indeed research Xeno Ethics and pick an alignment. I was very curious about this same thing and it was answered randomly in a game I was playing when I checked a race's stats.

And I'm pretty sure that each race invariably chooses the alignment that they are already set up to be. i.e. Korath, Korx, Drengin choose evil, Torians, Iconians choose good, Thalans, Arceans choose neutral.

The way you can tell if they have done this is: If you check a race's alignment and it says "leaning" toward whatever, then they haven't done xeno ethics. If it says straight up "evil, good or neutral", then they have and that's the one they chose.

In DL they do very often. Perhaps it is something in the expansions that prevents them, or makes them think it is not worth all that much.

In a recent DA game on obscene I had given the Drengin a little to much play and they not only got their evil alignment, they also got the MCC built. First time I had an AI build it/beat me to it. Also turned into about the longest war I ever had to fight :)

There are sometimes event screens of the form. Dregin have changed philosophies. While they were once cruel, they know favor kindness... I thought these were a way of announcing the switch of ethics of a race

1 level above "tough" I assure you more than 2 races research it. On "tough" i see it sometimes....This has been my experience.

You have no idea how powerful early psionic weapons are untill your facing one (some tech trees allow VERY early psibeam!). Good lord.

Also my custom race opponent( Whom I use as my custom race when im not having fun with natural races) seems to beeline for xeno ethics first and comes out with some very potent weapons or armor and quickyl takes the lead.

In most games my custom AI is the last person standing, and I find myself loosing sometimes (more often than say, against korath for example)
