Priceless humor is spending ALL your resources to gain a trade good.. and having a scummy alien race finish it a TURN before you do. This has happened to me a few times.. grrrr. >:(

After taking a good appreciative look at the new screenshot of the tech tree posted on the main page today, I clicked on "DONE" to try to close the window. For a minute, I was befuddled as to why the game wasn't working right. LOL

The expression on my face as everyone that I was at war with, over a period of 3 turns, "foils my plans for galactic domination" by surrenduring to MY ALLY. Never had an alliance victory wrap up so fast.

LMAO thanks for the warning straywolf. I'd have done that too.
I think my big one was What happened to these Battlehammers? I came up with a cool lil story consistent with the game and metaverse on it. I figured I had the version where they had been nerfed entirely. It ended up being a humorous and great thread. I figured I got a version they had been nerfed entirely in. Then at the end I figured out the tech for them hadn't been researched as it remained below the 8 or so that get put on the tech screen and I handn't scrolled down to get it. :D LOL

Ah, yes, the irony of some of those Galcic moments. In my current game, a bloodbath erupted when a surrender went bad. It was during a long peace with everyone after a few short wars early in the game just to teach some lessons and claim my fair share (bad start position, only one colonizing candidate anywhere nearby). So, anyway, the Yor are getting beat up by a Arcean/Torian/I-League alliance and have two planets left. They surrender to ME, leaving me holding the bag out of position to take on hordes of dreadnaughts sitting nearby several of my bases and planets. After a few turns of senseless devastation being waged (with me mostly losing ships), I took an Arcean planet and negotiated a three way peace deal. Thank you, Mr. Yor.

Had a good start, but lost a lot of footing on the tech race. Then a conflict with Drengin, who were clearly in the lead of everyone. Shortly afterwards, UP resolution to share techs (10!).

Start by come back. Ally with the Yor. Then, Arceans beat on me. Then they start beating on the Drengin. After a hundred turns of that, and a good deal of negotiating/trading, the Drengins ally with me and the Yor to fight the Arceans.

What a terrific outcome to have had the Drengin despise me early in the game only to forge an alliance of convenience late in the game! Priceless? Well, not really - it cost a whole lot to make this happen ;)

You know what i think is pricless Playing a Gigantic map with occational worlds (frist time using more that Rare.) Get what i think is a good amount of systems 21 and lossing 4 to the I-League, 6 to the Terrain Confederacy. Realy Falling Behind in everything but tech and then Forging Alliances with the 2 Empires that Cripaled me an almost winning (stupid AI can win by Tech 1.03a).

Coffeedragon: Been there, I think my exact words were "They've got a Precursor Ranger! USS Hero is the only ship that we've got that can take it out, and only while we know where the Ranger is. What POSSIBLE reason could we have for letting that ship get away when it's controlled by a race that is already hostile, but we can keep in check if they don't have this ship?" This was before I found out that the Ranger's cloaking didn't do anything, and well before dreadnought tech, so my exasperation was quite understandable.

After the Pacifists got in, I even tried to overthrow the government (change to Imperial), but they wouldn´t let me. LOL

Eh, Popup Target, you have already three Evil wins, how about joining G.R.O.S.S.? We are always in need of more cannonfod-, err, volunteers. And there is no Empire that pays better! :D

I don't see any reason to get rid of the aliens unless they aren't interested in peaceful coexistence, so that puts me at odds with the stated goals of G.R.O.S.S. :) Besides, I've got almost twice as many Pure Good wins as all my evil wins combined. The Evil wins tend to happen when 1) I use random alignments and would be the only good civ in the galaxy and don't feel up to that challenge, or 2) get too many really tempting PQ-influencing events.

O.K., I'll admit to having the occasional bad thought about the Arceans :)

Even after playing GalCiv for more than a month, some star names just crack me up :) Recently, I have colonized : Heinlein (seems really appropriate for the Father of the sci-fi Golden Age), Algore (I am still looking for the Bush system), Gandalf and Sauron.

Popup:
1. By Get Rid Of, we mean either 1. Invade
2. Culturally assimilate
3. OUt tech.

Ok truth be told I got it from Calvin and Hobbes and thought it catchy.

That's the object of the game. We'd love to have yuu. Evil allignment is encouraged, but not required.
It's all evil by the way.

1. The Good win. Cultural assimilation. All the while addicting them to your trade goods. Uh I wonder if the aliens wouldn't think that quite evil. Our Kentucky fried Drengin franchises have proven quite successfull as have our 3 legged Levis with a tail button fly. (We don't ask why the Torians like their pants that way. We don't want to know)
2. The neutral win. Playing off one agains the other, profiteering from both. That's bloody wicked too.
3.The Evil win (most fun) Pure chaos and carnage.

The only difference between them. is the ruthlessness with which galactic control is achieved.

So Get Rid of simply means Take their civilizations, Take control of their Galaxies and Just win baby.

But TTCTTOTGAJWB did not really have a catchy ring to it.

At G.R.O.S.S. we don't dictate how you play. Just win baby. Just win. We do, however, guarantee Senatorship for those with 5 evil submissions for a limited time.

My biggest snaffu was Why wont these Danged ships move must be a glitch Reload oh still broke. Dad burnit. Well better post it here. alt tab internet wait wait wait.
