Ship movement limited to 5 moves / turn

Symptom:
The maximum speed limit per ship is 5 moves / turn despite of what kind of and what number of engines the ship has.
Environment:
Twilight Of Arnor 1.96 - started a custom game in the largest available universe, customized victory settings, etc.

At first I thought it was one of the game's global events which limited ship-movement, but I'm wondering whether this is the case... Having to play an entire game with ships only be capable of moving at 5 moves/turn in a large universe looks a bit strange to me.

Nevertheless, can anyone tell me if I'm experiencing a bug here or whether this is simply an intended game feature. If it's the later, can I do anything to get my ships past this 5 moves/turn limit?

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any related thread in the forum even after searching it for the last 30 minutes. Maybe anyone who knows the forum better than me can point me to a helpful thread?

There is an event that limits your ships movement to 5/turn maximum, no matter what engines you have. The only way I've found to get them a bit faster is with Fleet Warp Bubble technology, but there may be other techs out there that help.

The fleet warp bubbles probably aren't supposed to allow you past 5 pcs/wk either when you get that event.

That defintely sounds like the Speed Limit mega event, and if warp bubbles can get you over that limit, it sounds like a bug either in the code implementing the limit or the flavor text of the event.

At the start of a new game you may disable mega events which will prevent this from happening again.

I did'nt expect it to work to be honest, but I was happily surprised when it did.

Warp Bubbles also help when in Yor space too.

You know, the idea of a tech to help with both the Speed Limit and Yor super ability actually seems reasonable after a bit of thought. I really like the way a strong Yor presence can affect a map, but I also like the idea of a tech-based way to "fight back."
