What Game Next?

So I'm wrapping up my Gigantic/Suicidal game and wondering what new game I should try next.  I've still got to play Twilight of the Arnor but I'm saving that for my next business trip.

I'm looking for something that isn't as addictive as GC so I can maybe get some stuff done around the house.  Is it possible for a game to be fun but not addictive?  Anyway, I like to play a game "series" from start to finish, like the Warcraft series.  I have absolutely no interest in MMPORG or the like.  The whole Civilization series sounds good but also sounds highly addictive.  Here's what I have played over the last few years:

Obsidian

Myst - All

Doom 3

Starcraft - All

Warcraft - All

Conquest: Frontier Wars

Half Life - All

For me I'd have to say either Starcraft or Half-Life. Both incredibly fun games, but also ones that you can just play for an hour or so, save, then jump right back into whenever you feel like it.

I'd go Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. It's an awesome RTS, IMO. You can get the base game plus two of the expansions in one pack for like $20.00 now. It's the game that preceeded Company of Heroes and made by the same team. The Campaigns are engrossing enough to keep you interested but not keep you up till dawn. The Dark Crusade campaign has a Risk type map where each territory has its own bonuses and when you attack them you go to RTS mode. It also has diskless play. Its is simply a solid game.

I'd go 40k too, but Soul Storm (shitstorm) is a disgrace to the serial if you ask me. They didn't even patch it yet, and there are a couple of bugs that are literally game-killers. But it's still a good game though. Took hours of my life.

I refuse to play Soul Storm. Is it true that they haven't patched the resource bug yet?

Thanks for the input.

C&C sounds pretty good, although it looks very similar to Warcraft.

Warhammer sounds good too and wasn't on my radar before. I may go with that one first.

Have you found a work around to the mouse lag for Bioshock. All the things I've tried don't work. The game imo is not playable on the pc with the lag. It sucks cuz I was dying to play it and now I have a $40 game that is basically a coaster.
