turn time - can this be made any faster?

Hi, this is probably quite a basic question, but on my usual medium maps it didn't bother me too much. Now I'm just playing my very first game on "Huge" and from "annoying" it got to "terrible".

I'm just tired of seeing a hundred ships move every turn taking ages to do so.

So is there a setting that completly turns off all this animation stuff and simply lets the AIs do what they got to do and move on to the next turn?

I just can't believe that it takes a modern PC several seconds to move a ship-icon from one spot to another spot.

Ah yes this does get annoying once you start getting huge fleets.

I don't think there is an option in options but you should keep looking around.

The option is to zoom in to a portion of the map with no ships moving about, then hit the turn button.

The game only displays the ship movements that are in its current view.

If you've got loads of ships, station them or use fleets when possible. Also what Moosetek13 said can be helpful.

well, will this make the time shorter or will it take just as long but you just don't see them moving anymore?

It does speed things up - but not to "zero-time". Depends how many individual ships or fleets have to move, their speed (i.e. how many parsecs they have to be moved), and your system. Once you get into the thousands with speeds of 25+, then turns can still take quite a while to process.

Fleet them wherever possible, as that reduces the number of units that have to move.

Addendum to Moosetek's response: On my old, sub-spec rig, I got the best boost by zooming to the lowest tactical (icon) view of an empty map area. It seemed to me that even with stuff out of view, running at the 3D level slowed stuff down.

You can also switch to another screen, like economy, tech, united planets, etc, and not be looking at the map at all.

thanks, that helped a lot. Much less annoying now.
I almost felt back to the glorious times of the 286/386 when turns in games could take literally several minutes to process.
