Is it possible to change a Freighters home base?

If I build a Freighter on one Planet and send to one of my other Planets, is there a way to have it re-base from the new Planet?

Currently I can send it to the new Planet where it will land, but if I relaunch it to set up a new Trade route the Trade route is still based off the original build Planet. Is there anyway to change this or am I just out of luck?

It might change if you no loonger own the first planet, but what it changes to I haven't a clue. Other than that, no.

Nope. A freighter is 'tagged' when it is built, and there is no way to change that.

So, what is the base planet when a freighter is bought from an alien race?

Hmmm. That's a good question. I've never bought a freighter before, so I couldn't say.

Are you asking a question, or do you know the answer already? If you do, I would really like to know.

Actually, you have gotten my curiosity up, so I'll try both buying a freighter, and building one in the game I have going sometime tonight. I haven't tried re-basing one since sometime in DA. Maybe (hopefully) something has changed since then.

I'm interested in the answer also. I remember buying a freighter way back in GC1 just to figure out what happened, but I've forgotten. :p

I have this nagging feeling that it attached the freighter to the nearest planet, but (a) I have no clear memory of it and (b) the behavior certainly could have changed after all these years.

Well, I really don`t have a clear idea, only I usually send my
new freighters to a well positioned planet (of mine) before I chose
a trade destination. Perhaps that`s when the "tagging" takes place?

As well, if I don`t send these new ships to a planet of mine first,
but just choose a close trade destination, there`s some formula to
pick a planet to be from.

Even though the freighter never was even close to that planet itself.

And I was curious to see this formula explaned.

Another question is, if I kill a route what happens to the ship?

Is it available for upgrade?

Nope, killed route = lost ship.
