Peacekeepers?

How are they supposed to ruin your day again?

So...they arrived and I have absolutely no way to harm them. They're roaming through my territory destroying all my trade routes and totally decimated my fleet. Each of their ships has about 3 times the HP of my beefiest fleet and have like 10x the attack or defense of said fleet.

A quick google search indicated that they're supposed to attack ships that leave your territory, not stay within in. Maybe I just screwed myself over by attacking them?

Eh, you've been meaning to do some focusing on technology right? Let them destroy all you got (or sell them/destroy them for money) and focus on making bigger/better ships. Ones that can fight them and also perhaps help you get an edge on your opponents once things clear.

gotta love the mega events :)

but yes they are absurdly, ridiculously, and disgustingly overpowered events, but they are supposed to be.

you can turn them off. :)

I have never seen those SOB's. All I can say is, good luck?

Admittedly that mega event fulfills its title - there will be peace in the galaxy. At least it happens to everybody pretty much equally.

When that one happens I just turn research up to 100% and max out my defense against whatever those guys have. IT seems almost always to be a late mid-game event for me, so large-hulled + massive defense + some whopping logistics can usually overcome.

Yes, you screwed yourself by attacking them. you should have gotten the warning dialog that said "By doing this, you'll be declaring war on the Peacekeepers, ok?"

They are roaming around my galaxy right now, decimating the Torians. I don't know how they did it, but they have a lot of planets in Yor influence space, so even their orbital defense ships are getting smeared.

I'm getting around them by building "influence lanes" using influence starbases towards anything I want to attack. They don't bother me, and in fact, I've seen them clobber some Yor planetary defense ships for me, once my influence extended over my target.

So, don't attack the Peacekeepers unless you have to.

QFT. Sell off your ships for a nice chunk of change, then hunker down and research your *ss off. When you come out the other side, you'll be an unstoppable power. You can handle the Pirates! event the same way.

The worst part about these events is the fact that when they spawn, I know that I have won the game. If it's a game that I'm not terribly interested in, I may choose that opportunity to retire, but if I am interested, I'll usually reload a savegame; not because they make the game too hard, but because they make it too easy.

I guess that's been the point about SOME of the mega events! They are "Game Breakers" and some events should be 'toned down' OR AI adjusted for the temperment of the game being played? The AI races do not seem capable of dealing with any of these events.

I have never played with them on cuz I'm scared I'll be playing a great game and one will come along and ruin all my hard work at random.

I have a few questions:

1. do they happen in EVERY game when turned on?
2. will more that one happen during a game?
3. does anyone know how many different evemts there are?
4. In your experiences with them, are they more fun to have on or more of a pain in the ass?
5. do they affect all races equally? (are there any race specific?)

any feedback would be helpful
