WINDOWS/system32 error

Ok, so I just got my new radeon HD4870, and after I installed it an error started to pop up evey time I turned on my computer.     The error reads -               Error loading   C:/WINDOWS/system32/usaqxjtv.dll   The specified module coul not be found.                                                             And when I play games, at around the 30 minute mark, my monitor says entering power save mode and then goes blank and won't come back on unless I reboot the computer. (while the monitor is blank the game is still running cause i can hear it just not see it) I deleted my old nvidia drivers before i installed my 4870, and i'm pretty sure I installed the 48700 correctly. I have no idea how to fix this problem and if anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated.

Which drivers did you install? Have you tried the 8.7 beta driver?

Wait? Does directx 10 require Vista or will it run on xp ?

Sometimes my answers are only 'clear' in my head.....  

"No" was in answer to use in XP. The download question was to ascertain where he got a cracked version to install on XP creating the usaqxjtv.dll error. I'm confident his machine has puked by now.....

No, I didn't install Directx 10 for xp (although I did find a leaded alph version), but running directx 9 on a 4870 wouldn't screw it up would it ? Also, do you think the difference between Directx 9 and 10 is substantial enough to drop 200 $ for vista ?

No it runs DX9 perfectly fine, DX10 is slowly catching on as usual with a major DX release. There is a fairly decent list of new games coming out with DX10 goodies already, im sure the list will just get larger.

So do you think those goodies are enough to upgrade to vista, or should I wait until the directx 10 goodies list gets more robust?

Well right now DX10 Titles that are released/to be released can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_10_support
If you are into quite a few of those games then I'd say go for it.

Thanks, I'm taking my computer in to Geek Squad and see if they can get the card working properly, because I've tried everything I no to do. And for the Directz 10 thing, I'm looking forward to many of the games, so I'll probably update some time this year.

The geek squad people said that dell computers ( I have a dell xps ) have something in their bios that prevents thrid party graphics cards from working with their machinges, so you have to buy cards through dell. Is this true, or was that geek squad person crazy?

I've never heard of such a thing, I have a few friends that upgraded their Dell PC's with new videocards and they have zero problems...

I wouldn't put it beyond them. These OEMs have a bad habit of trying to pull such stunts in the past. How often this really happens is up for debate.

In any case, I don't see how a BIOS problem could look like a missing file. That doesn't sound like something the BIOS could do. My guess is something is messed up. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the video card drivers.

My advice: Do not upgrade a computer to Vista. The best way to get Vista is with a new computer. The vast majority of Vista issues arise from people trying to upgrade old machines.
