Metaverse custom race bug?

Don't have a save game because I can't start my next Metaverse game. Just completed a game and wanted to start another. Made some minor changes to my custom race and saved it with the same name. Now every time I try to start a game it says the race is invalid and my Metaverse game will not count. I cleared the race and remade it but I still get the same error message. No idea why. Will try saving it to a different name I guess.

Edit - Tried to make another custom race with a different name but I still get that the race is invalid.  At this point I can't play a Metaverse game with a custom race.  Disappointing.  I must be doing something wrong but have no idea why.  It certainly would be helpful if the error message told me *why* my cusom race is invalid.

I had this appear to me as well the other day. It happened to me when I had spent all my tech points for my starting techs. For some reason, if I picked just right and was able to have 0 points left over, it would give me that message. If I spent 'worse' and had like..20 points left, everything as fine.

Just to be safe, go to the metaverse folder in whatever game version (DL/DA/TA) folder you are playing and move the custom race's xml file somewhere (like your desktop) then try again. I say move instead of delete, just for precaution. Once it's working, delete that file you moved.

Yes, I've also seen it and it is related to tech choices - try changing which techs you've picked to start with. I can't remember which particular one it was that was causing the problem for me, but it was a specific tech and not related to the remaining points.

I deleted my custom Metaverse races and remade one. Problem solved. Thanks.
