OT, but check this out. I did an obscene game, medium galaxy, 7 opponents. I was Krynn, and started with 700% and 100% industry tiles on my homeworld. AND I BLEW IT. ARRRRG. I got bogged down in a vicious fight with the thalans, and even though I had both treaties with the Korath, they declared war on me anyway (their military was 4x the combined militaries of all other races). To add the final nail in my coffin, the yor, who were #2 military, declared war on me in the same turn. sigh...
survival of the strongest. some how this reminds me of the Kzinti rules. Something like, Prey is weaker. I don't know, KP will know something more about this. He's eaten a few thalan himself so he's a expert on this matter.
that is why i never play with the thalans
Now that i think of it, every time I put the Thalans in a game, they become a superpower and usually go around killing everyone. any one else have this problem?
like i say... if you can't beat them, join them
. Ally up with the thalan. Never say butt kissing doesn't get you anywhere. later if you want, while you send them off you fight some alien race plant your battle heart inside their empire. with their forces weakened you shouldn't have too much resistance (fingers crossed). Allying up with them I know works, but planting a trap in their empire is purely speculation and theory.
