Random Freezes.

So, I'm having an interesting problem with the latest ToA. At random points while playing, the game will freeze, and seem to "flicker" back and forth between one image in the next. During gameplay, this manifests as the zoom function appearing to go in and out, or when scrolling, the screen flciker right to left or left to right. When loading a savegame, this sometimes manifests as the screen flickering between the loading screen and the game itself.

Note that while this happens, the game itself is unresponsive, but vista apparently finds nothing wrong with this, as the only way to exit the game involves pressing alt+f4 or using the task manager to end the game. This, unfortunatley, means no error is logged in the GalCiv debug.err or SmartException. I'll go ahead and post the dxdiag section of the debug file to provide system information, but there is no log for the error itself.

That is not the entire debug file (which is needed).

Other than that, you are running some pretty old video and audio drivers. And you don't have the correct monitor driver installed.

Those video drivers are known to be buggy in Vista,

Yep, Vista-nVidia drivers prior to version 101.41 have some significant issues. The latest is 175.XX, which you can get from nVidia's website.

I've tried to update my drivers at least a dozen times, however, all current nvidia driver installations claim that there are no available drivers for my current hardware setup, and the HP update service insists that I am up-to-date. Also, there is currently no laptop support for Omegadriver's vista nvidia drivers. I take this to mean I am essentially out of luck, and have simply resorted to saving my game with religious fervor, though it is still rather irritating when the freeze occurs shortly after loading my game.

You might have better luck with these.
