"Min defenders in orbit before..."

Can't find what this stupid slider does anywhere. (in the options under game) So, is there a way to see the rest of what this option says, or are we supposed to know based on an incomplete sentence? heh Can't find it in the pdf manual, I've looked.

It refers to the minimum number of defenders that have to be in orbit before an autolaunch will occur.

Auto launching means that when your ships are built they leave orbit and can be given orders right away, so this setting allows you to create planetary defences should you need them.

Thanks for filling in that gap in the documentation. (And bugged game interface label I guess... another "hard to notice" one that testers missed?)

Actually, I can read the menu option just fine, so I'm assuming the testers could too.

"Min Defenders In Orbit Before Auto Launch"

I think someone seriously needs to up their screen resolution. ^_^

Still a bug.

Best guess deciphering your coded message:

You have to set your game resolution ridiculously high, until everything is sized kinda goofy looking, and then you can read it? Who cares, once you know what it says you can ignore it.

Since when is 1280x960 "ridiculously high"?

What on earth gets "goofy looking" when you set your resolution to something consistent with it being the 21st century?

I can't even display that resolution. My LCD screen is four years old and a bit small.

This option wasn't in the Beta as recently as March. That's why this "tester" never commented on it.

That changes things somewhat. I have a certain level of intolerance for software companies (almost all of them) releasing things with a trivial amount of testing, or releasing changes with no testing at all.

Oh, and 1280x960 is lower than I originally thought caused this... BUT - for a game, yeah that is kinda high except for the fact that this is turn based. That res is about about the highest I can tolerate after getting used to a lower one, with the first version of this game. I don't know why - play around with it at different res and you'll see how things scale kinda weird at different res.

Well the scaling is still weird regardless of resolution. I found it confusing and a bit irritating and frustrating that I can't read full descriptions and text at the resolution I've been playing at. It never occurred to me that the text was formatted only to display in full at higher resolutions; I thought it was just a more ordinary bug or programmer's laziness. Now I'll go home and try to up my screen rez. No idea what I'm running at now.

A tool tip might have been really helpful here in order to read what's not always completely visible by hovering the cursor over it. I noticed a few in other areas of the menu that had them. Incidentally, I hear that there's a selection for when designing for an updated ship there's a selection for the game not making you start from scratch with the template. I haven't found it.

It was there, but apparently now it's not. If you need to change it the following instructions should be helpful.

Navigate to My Documents\My Games\GC2Twilight\ and open the Prefs.ini file (it's text, so it'll open in Notepad).

Under the Interface heading you should see a line like this:

StripComponentsWhenUpgrading=0

If it doesn't exist or the zero is a one, change it.
