On my system I have the following quick and easy to reproduce crash bug on my Vista64 machine
1) Launch TA
2) Start a new game
3) Exit to main menu
4) Start another new game
Game crashes every time in #4 during setup (transition to race selection screen).
I've run smart exception and it shows a record of the crash (although from my brief reading of it doesn't seem aware of Vista). Smart Exception is however unable to generate a log file to send. Initially it reported that it was unable to find the directory to put the log in (which did not exist), so I created the directory for it. Now SmartException doesn't report a missing directory when creating the log, but no log is created. My sense of things here is that the whole SmartException system is Vista unaware, and thus unable to create directories and files even when run in administrator mode. I installed SmartException via Stardock Central. I have Impulse installed and ran TA through Impluse, but SmartException doesn't seem to be available under Impulse, so I fell back and installed it under SDC.
I'd like to be helpful and submit this exception, but at this point I'm at a lose of what to do. Can anyone give me a hand here?
Additionally the bottom sticky on this page indicates I should submit a debug.err file also, but it doesn't specify where that would be. Can someone point me in the right direction here as well.
