Greets and questions

First of all, thank you Stardock for this GREAT Game. Althought I had the original GC2 dread lords, I've recently buyed the two expansions in a row, as my family has grown in this two years, and I had not time to play or anything else. I didn't even know about them. And now I can only say WOW.

To the questions:

Is there some fishy in the in-game map generator of twilight? I mean, the galaxies I generate barely have special planets as barren, toxic, etc., but lots of type 0, and a handful of habitable, no matter which options I chose in  the generation screen.

The map editor supplied with twilight will be someway completed to give more random generation options? (Max number of stars, clustering type, proportion of planets and that kind of things). I have noticed that when you generate a random map, almost all the planets are habitable or special (barren, toxic, etc). There are almost no type 0, and lots and lots of resources. Is this normal?

Thank you, and sorry if this has been stated before.

End of quote

What sort of galaxy settings have you used, in particular? The special types are a subset of the habitables, so you if you were using smaller maps or less planets, there may not have been enough regular planets to afford many specials among those that were open to start.

Normally I use:
Size: Large / Huge
Planets: Uncommon / Rare
Habitable: Uncommon

Anyway thanks, I didn't know special were a subset of habitables. This behaviour of the map generation makes much more sense now with this info.

Something about the 2nd question, please? Thanks.

Hi, and congratulations on your growing family :D

The second question, dealing with the map-editor - is that hopefully the editor will be improved but I am not sure as to what if any improvements will be made, perhaps a Stardock person can help with this.

As it is now, there is no way to "guide" the randomization, except that you can randomize stars, planets, resources by themselves.

If you use "w" to place a planet, you can turn that planet to "0" or whatever you want and then when you push "w" again, that setting will be the default. You can add dozens or hundreds of planets this way of a particular setting in minutes. I do this after I find a map to my liking, via randomizing, to add a dozen class 0 of one size or color, then another dozen of another and another, rings, moons, etc. Cumbersome yes, but can be done very quickly with a bit of practice.

Hope this helps

Thank you for the response. But certainly this is the hard way to do this.:( I hope Stardock upgrade the map editor, as is almost unusable right now at least for me. ( I dont have enough patience lol)
