Dread Lords Kicking My Behind!

Hope I don't sound like I'm whining, but...

What's up with the Dread Lords? It's still early in the game and they show up with like 3 ships and start tooling on me. Soon, my entire civilization is dust. Very frustrating. Is there a way to turn them off or delay them until later in the game when I can actually fight them?

Thanks!

I rarely fight dread lords, but whenever I do, I prefer small fighters, even in DA. Load 'em up with max weapons and make them into fleets, but MAKE SURE the total fleet attack is greater than said Dread Lord's hp's, or you're just going to have wasted the fighters. Some people have tried making monsterously big capitals, but the cost in that is so high, it would be one on one, or worse. Make sure your economy is revving as well.

You can't turn them off or delay them without turning off ALL major events. There is a box when you go to start a game that allows you to turn off all major events.

It's happening so early, though -- Is it just a fluke? I mean, I'm barely up to Stinger III's when they've been coming 'round.

I'll start a new game and see if it happens again. :)

Dread Lords are not a Mega Event, so they cannot be turned off. They are just a regular random event, so they will not likely show up in a new game. The timing is random as well.

Macmodder's advice is good, but the number of ships in the fleet matters. Make sure your fleet attack is at least double the Dread Lord's defense and HP, and make sure you have more ships than the Dread Lord has weapon modules. Even so, attrition will be bad.

I am one of the proponents of the "moster capital ship" but in the circumstances listed it's not really an option. What you can do is use the Dread Lords - trade planets with them a few times by letting them take a planet, then taking it back before they can build a ship on it. After a few exchanges, you should have enough high-end weapon techs to be able to face them. Or simply wait until the Dread Lords kill the guard ships on other people's planets, then slip fast transports in behind them.

They've turned up in three games so far... But I am playing the Milky Way custom galaxy (which is flippin awesome), so that must be why.

Thanks for your help, guys.

Why don't you try GalCiv2 trainer?
However, I'll need to make one... (:(

I've heard that there is a trainer that could delay the events.
