Crash on startup

from GalCiv2 Forums
I had the shipbuilding bug, were all components showed up in twilight of the Arnor. So i uninstalled all of Galciv 2 (galciv 2, Dark Avatar and Twilight of the Arnor) but now it crashes after the cinematic.
From what i can tell, it has some problems finding some files, as i have multiple partitions on my harddisk. But both Dark Avatar and the core game runs fine.

The various "no files found matching mask..." messages are normal, but the above registry errors are not. Are you running under a limited user account, or do you have some sort of security software installed that may have interfered with the installation or the game's ability to read the registry?

It may be windows firewall, I am installing from impulse.
I installed Galciv 2 from the cds and Dark Avatar plus Twilight from impulse, i think, the problem was that the install path from Impulse was set wrong. Doh :-P

Ok, I have the same problem, I've been trying to get help and can't.  I've completely cleard the game (everything) from my computer.  Re-installed DA, DL, and TA.  I still have this issue.  I don't know what's going on.

I see other people have this same problem but no solution.  If someone else has fixed it please let me know.

I had the same problem with my install. Luckily I have it installed and working on another computer. Here is what I did to fix:

run regedit, go to HKLM/Software/Stardock/Drengin.net/GalCiv2/Twilight

For some reason only one key with my serial number was present. There are several more keys that should be here. They are all string value keys so choose String value when creating the sub keys. It should look like this:

(Default)  REG_SZ    (value not set)

AppId   REG_SZ  Twilight

Email REG_SZ (your emailaddress in Impulse)

Module  REG_SZ  1

ModuleID  RED_SZ 161

Name  REG_SZ Twilight of the Arnor (Expansion Pack)

Serial No REG_SZ  (your serial number here)
