.96 upgrade has all my races doing nothing

All the races show weakest economy

 :) 

I reporting from my latest game with the TA .96 update,

all my races are well behind me in planet acqusition

also they aren`t building any scouts or any other ships.

The relations screen shows all at the weakest economy.

I`ve reinstalled the TA files thru Impulse. cleared the My games ... TA folder.

What gives?

I am having this issue as well.

I used Impulse to update to the 1.96 patch and started a new game. On an Immense map at turn 96 the AI opponents have not expanded or built any ships. They have only what they started the game with (one Colony ship, miner, and Flagship).

I have not yet applied the .zip download to fix the ship component problem listed, and that might fix the problem...but I just realized what was happening and came here to read up on the issue.

Anyway, just wanted to give a bump on the issue. I have every confidence you folks will have the kinks ironed out in no time. BTW, still loving this game :)

Forgive an obvious one .... these things do happen .... when you started the first game after the upgrade, did you check the Intelligence level of the other races in the game SetUp Screen as you went through the first game post upgrade?

It sounds as though the AIs in your game are set to the lower(est) Intelligence levels, at those levels the AI says Ga-Ga and dribbles at the mouth but not much else as its intentionally seriously crippled - in the same way as a game set to CalkWalk or Beginner

I have the same issue, but on Suicidal (hardest level)...

Every race I encouted so far has only colonized 1 extra planet besides their homeworld...

But I can see some details under each race, e.g. their income and their spending - this is without any spending in espionage though...

And I can see under each race that AI intelligence is Ultimate... So I am pretty sure it is a bug in 1.96

I also noticed that if trying to custom make a new ship - I can see alot of modules I havent even researched (even at turn 1) I can even see Spore module as Drath... I can save ships with modules not researched but I cant build any of those ships..

Same here, but not all races behave the same way.

I started a new Normal game with the map set on Huge. All races seem frozen but the Terrans that are playing as usual (actually they're expanding very fast).

I've got another problem though, now when I try to design a new ship I can see all components even those I didn't already discover plus other components my tech tree shouldn't allow me to see.

If I build a design with those components I can't see it in the list of the buildable ships. I have to dig inside the huge list manually selecting only what I've already discovered so far...

I was seeing these issues as well. However, I found the ship component fix noted in the TA 1.96 change log. As indicated, extract this to the noted directory. This fixes the component issue at least. In the few minutes I tested things, it also appears to have fixed other issues as well. I played a few dozen turns in a new game and now see opponents expanding and colonizing as usual.

Yeah, it won't hurt anything to use the zip whether you're using SDC or Impulse.

In my game, all the ai planets i looked upon had only factories and labs(altarian and acrean). no eco building so the ai lagged behind because of no money.

edit: i started the game without the fix.

I just upgraded to .96 5 minutes ago Do I need to do the zip thing too, or where do I find the fix that was put out? Or since I upgraded - at 17:15 July 1 Impulse time - via the Impulse platform am I just fine and dandy?

The updated version is: 1.96.027, if your showing that now within the game, your good to go.

Well, it looks like the ship fix patch or the afternoon upgrade from Impulse
got the Aliens back to work. I`m once again swamped with occupied planets.

Does the Impluse file replace the ship fix .exe? Vista is still warning me
about an unsigned file.

So, do I or not have the option to select mixed vertex processing
mode and do I want to?

My video card is a ATI 3870.

It does. Mixed VP was only really a troubleshooting option for low-end cards, but made more trouble than it helped so it's gone now.
