DA Planetary Invasion animation for TA?

First off let me say that I love the new features and upgrades that came with TA, all except one... the Planetary Invasion animations in TA are not nearly as exciting to watch as the ones in DA.

The old invasion screen was a dramatization of the combat, while the new invasion screen is more of a representation of what's happening on the planet surface. I was expecting the animations in TA to go one better than DA, like it did in all the other game features.

In any case, anyone think it's possible to get a patch that would allow DA style or TA style planet invasion? like in a game menu feature? or is this something that will best be attempted by our ModMasters?

For me, it would make TA truly perfect if I could add the old style Planetary Invasion animations.

Yeah, hopefully the devs recognize that the new pi screen is not as appreciated as it should be - the videos are nice but there is missing the feedback from the battle. I would be satisfied if the planetary surface/wobbling flags-screen would be replaced by a small one showing the old battle screen. MAybe an option to switch between them and it would be perfect.

It would be nice if the battle videos actually showed the results of your pre-invasion tactics, like a flooded city for the tidal wave attack, leaflets being dropped from the sky for information warefare etc. Then the screen would at least have some variety. Probably not cost-effective to do though.

Indeed, for the time spent to create a small dozen of videos or such, they could do so much more that enhances gameplay. And I'm pretty sure that's the choice they've made :)

I actually wouldn't mind tackling this problem. This and the bad icons for the terrain on a planet ruined an otherwise pretty imersive atmosphere. I already made some icons for planet terrain (in the Library now under UI) which should be getting a small update soon. But I would like to get some nicer background images and animations for the attacks

Just bring back the old animations, or.... OPEN THE WHOLE THING UP FOR MODDERS TO IMPROVE! :p

Ok that might be more work than it's worth. So just let us switch back to the old style. It's already implemented, for crying out loud... pull it out of CVS/SVN and let's see it as an option.

But you'd be out of your mind if you thought the new version was an "improvement", as it was supposed to be in the expansion. lol
