Zoom with mouse wheel very very slow

I have to scroll the mouse wheel dozens of times to zoom in

Hello,
I have a Microsoft Natural wireless Laser 6000 mouse that so far (fingers crossed) has not experienced this problem with any of my other games.

I just bought the dark avatar and twilight digital bundle pack tonight and Im attempting to play twilight.

When I wish to zoom into the planets or get a closer view of my ships, I have to scroll the mouse wheel dozens of times for it to actually zoom in close up.  In other game such as World of Warcraft, or any of my strategy single player games that have a zoom associated with the mouse wheel the zoom is fluid and doesn't take excessive amounts of scrolling of the wheel.

I quickly glanced through the interface options in hopes of finding a way to make the mouse wheel zoom more sensitive but didn't see one.  Does one exist?

Is there a way to correct this problem?

Thank you for your time.

How many lines is it set to scroll per tick in the windows mouse settings?

You can also hit the "1" button on the Keyboard to instantly zoom in on whatever ship you have selected. Does not work for planets however.

Verticle scrolling is set to fast (fastest it will go). There is no option in the mouse settings to choose how many lines it scrolls per tick (actually it's tickless since it's a smooth scroll mouse wheel).

Even with the game setting to maximum zoom speed it's like it doesn't "catch" when trying to zoom in and out, this mouse is a smooth scroll wheel unlike my old mice that were knotch type of scroll wheels and I have to wonder if that is an issue with GalCiv2 and or TotA? It's really quite annoying to be honest to have to scroll the mouse wheel many many times very fast to get it to catch and start to zoom in or out, I'd sure like to see it zoom in and out smoothly with minimal scroll effort on my part.

Any chance of getting this to work properly somehow?

FIXED!

I don't know why this fixed it but it did....

I plugged in the mouse that I normally use for my laptop which is a microsoft (USB) Notebook 3000 mouse (but didn't actually get around to trying to use it with the game) and then when I used the scroll wheel on my regular Microsoft Natural mouse it's smooth and fluent and doesn't need any excess scrolling to work. I then unplugged the laptops notebook usb mouse from my desktop and my regular mouse continues to work properly with the game.

I can't explain why it worked, but it does work now.

Hope this helps anybody else that suffers what I was suffering (which was made even worse to me with my extreme CTS having to do all that extra scrolling to zoom).
