TA Campaign-Proving Ground

I can't understand what is going on.  I don't even have a chance to get my feet off the ground, and I am getting attacked from all directions by the Yor.  Can someone help me out?  I don't even know what I am doing wrong.  I am two planets compared to their five/six starting planets and I am getting attacked two turns into the game, and I don't have a chance to catch up to them.  Is their a catch I don't know about.  I am getting too frustated over this.

I cant remember what the goal in that particular one was. Mind posting it? I'll be around another 30 minutes or so and if no one else answers by then, I'll try to help you.

If I remember that mission correctly, that's the one you get a ridiculous Arnorian Battlecruiser? That ship is effectively unbreakable, so just sit and tank the Yor's prebuilt ships - they start with quite a few, but they can't scratch your cruiser. Or, build a starbase on the resource just above your planets, and immediately arm it. Even with only 3 attack it can hold off many Yor ships, allowing your cruiser to go on the offensive.

Once many/most of the Yor swarm is gone, start building transports and pick off planets one by one. With each one the Yor influence area will decrase, allowing faster ship movement. Oddly, this is the only mission I've seen where the Yor super ability is in force. Subsequent missions don't slow down your ships in their influence.

In case you don't make it back before I log off, I went into the program files and found what little text there was on the campaign. I have completed them all, so I can not jump to one within the 12 to play, I'd have to start all over.

It seems that there is a battlecruiser provided with the campaign and you need to invade and take a world to get a shard. I suspect from your post that you are trying to do what you did with the first campaign and build a normal empire? If that is the case, then don't.   All you should concern yourself with is finding that named planet, and invading it forthwith. I remember that none of the planets were difficult to win with even just one Troop Transport in any of the campaigns. So send one there and take that thing:) You might have to build a constructor or two to get your range extended enough to make it there, others preferred colonizing a cheap planet or two along the way, or even taking some planets along the way.

Hope this helps

End of quote

This will be the mantra for the rest of the TA campaign missions BTW. Take everything you've done in the past in DL/DA missions or any sandbox game...and toss it out the window.

Okay. This one says

1) Don't let the Yor defeat us.
2) Defeat the Yor

Now, I am around 35% complete with this map, or so the computer tells me. I have around half of the map in my favor. I problem now, is that the Yor are producing ships faster than by Amorian Battle Cruiser can kill them, and I can't keep up with the frigates that are destroying my younger ships. SO, I guess I will keep trying to win. I even have this on the cakewalk level, and I am getting rolled.

Just stick your transport around the Arnor Cruiser and pick their planet one by one. Just 3,4 planet and they're cripple. That is how i did. Hope this help. :)

I finally got lucky and managed to get a couple of techs up to the Battle Hammer and started pumping those out to protect my planets and rolled them over. It took a couple of hours, but I did it. Now, I have to find a certain planet and take it out. We will see how this on goes.

When I played that mission, I first built a few defenders to keep my planets safe, and started picking up the Yor ships with the Arnorian battlecruiser. Later, I built an armed starbase on the resource at 12:00 (with an Arnorian-protected fleet of constructors)and got on the offence. The Arnorian ship is practically unbeatable; the only issue is that you have to run from one end of your borders to the other to pick the attackers.

Iwent for the first planet right above mine first, and then took over the two 20+ class planets on either side. After that, the Yor don't have much of a military production machine.

Fun fact: I had fleeted a medium-sized warship (my upgraded survey flagship) with the Arnorian vessel. For some reason, my flagship almost always got all the XP in every kill of the Arnor. At the end of the mission, my Terran 'Bear' class flagship had a "hull potential" of 350! It would easily stand against even some Dread Lords ships.
