Installing Twilight - Already have Gold Ed. installed?

Delete post

I want to install TotA from Impulse.

I have entered all 3 serials for the game, and installed Galciv 2 + Dark Avatar from CD.

However, Impulse appears to ignore the fact I have it installed, and tries to make me download it all.

Is there a way of making it see that I already have the game + DA installed?
Or do I have to get the whole thing from Impulse?

It's ok, I'll just download it all, it's going at 6MB / sec anyways..

I can't seem to delete my post?

Dude,

Had the same issue.  Un-installed it.  Downloaded DA, DL, TA.  Can't get TA to opperate past the opening cinema.  Can't find the reason why and can'g get a response from tech support.  Don't know what to say.

Wow, I was about to order TA,

But after reading this, and the fact that I have a store bought-installed Gold version installed as well, I really have to wonder.

Whismerhill and I both advised to try setting the resolution manually here: https://forums.galciv2.com/330927

If that does not work and you have a support ticket, post your ticket ID and I'll have them pull it up today.

The OP's issue was a simple one--the GC2 Gold installer is old and does not write all the registry entries that Impulse needs. Reinstalling via Impulse is the simple solution for those who don't care to muck about in the registry by hand. If you're unable to do the extra downloading, [email protected] can assist with the registry fix.

Stevepond's issue is something else and is unrelated to this.

Oh gawd don't tell me I now have to deal with this as well. I have the GC2 Gold edition boxed set I got from Amazon.com. Now you're telling me the download of TA I just bought and am downloading finally now isn't going to work?? You guys need to get your chit together and make stuff that works with the products you sell and not just online but in stores as well. Us having to muck with the registry is rediculous. I certainly don't feel like or even want to download the whole series over again not all of us have T1 connections you know.

EDIT: Nevermind as mine worked for gawd knows what strange reason. I'm surprised nothing ever seems to work for me when it comes to downloading games and getting them to work. Now I have an issue with EU:Rome Vae Victus as it reboots my system everytime it declares game initialised correctly. lol It did everything it was suppose to do to work and then reboots my computer every time. Guess that's $10 blown for nothing. Life was so much better when you could walk into a brick n mortar store, buy the game you wanted, got a nice box and printed manual along with it also, took it home and watched it install and work without a hitch. Gone are the days of easy installs and works first time everytime I guess.

Kryo,

I bought and installed the new expansion... since I had hardly touched the old game, it will all be new to me (did play GalCiv I quite a bit though), but before get two weeks into a game and find that it crashes out all the time or something like that and have to restart it, I am wondering...

Will the huge patch that downloads via Impulse for the orignal game fix this problem?

Or do I need to uninstall and reinstall the whole thing via Impulse?

There was a huge patch via impulse for the original GalCiv II game that I did   AFTER   the download of the T.A. expansion.. almost that same size.  After that patch, there was a much smaller patch for the Dark Avatar that I did.

Or is the problem with the TA expansion and the gold version only related to just getting the game to start in the first place?
