Quick question about Flagship

New to GC2, just had a quick question.  How do I rebuild my flagship?  It was destroyed and I can't figure out how to build more survey ships?  Do I need to research the tech or something?

Thanks!

Yeah, you have to research the tech that gives you the "Survey Module". I think in most versions of the game it's found in the Sensor tech.

Some please correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh yeah, and it won't be called Flagship in the spacedock, it will be called Surveyer or something similar.

You need Medium scale building, Sensors, Sensors mk IV, Advanced life Support and Ion Drive, if you want to rebuild the standard survey ship. However, with Sensors you obtain the Survey module; if a ship is equipped with it, that ship act as a survey ship (can explore anomalies). That means that you can design your own survey ship.
Additionally, with the Sensors mk III technology you can build the galactic wonder "Galactic guide book", which will allow all your ships to explore anomalies.
Hope this helps. :D

Oh cool, I did not know about this... well, there is a lot about GC2 I don't know yet. :)
I'll have to check that out in my next game.

Unless they changed this, the Guide Book does nothing of the sort. What it does is reduce the cost of a survey module to zero - you still need to place them on ships (meaning preexisting ships get nothing) and they still take up space on the ship.

I didn't knew that. In my games, when I can build the Galactic guide book anomalies had all already been explored, so it's useless... The description of the wonder says "all ships can survey", but honestly I never tried it. Thanks WIllythemailboy!

Anomalies regenerate in DA and TA making survey ships much more valuable. Make them as fast as possible. Include your best sensor tech. If practical include enough life support modules to cover the entire galaxy and finally try to find space for enough weapons/defense to deal with vengeance fighters and super dominator corvettes. Upgrade them occasionally as you advance through the tech tree.

Since the lastest DA does allow anomolies to regenerate, I build multiple surveyors; maybe have like 3 or 4 at a time. I never try to rebuild my flag ship but instead just create my own. Lots of engines but no life support or sensors, since later in the game the ship won't need these.

Do note that the AI will not rebuild their flagships. So once the AI's have lost theirs, you will be the only one still scooping up anomolies.

When anomalies started to regenerate, the GGB changed it's function from 'all ships can survey' to 'survey module now takes up 0 space, but still costs bc). The description didn't change though.

Even the more reason to try and get every race into a war with someone as early as possible. :)

Strange, my survey module still cost me space the one time I built that wonder. It didn't cost me BC but it was so cheap anyway that wasn't much of a boost.

Personally, the Eyes of the Universe wonder is so much better. No need for any sensors on any ship then and they all see so far. Well, one still needs a survey module for a few scout ships set to auto explore anamolies

Also for anyone who's wondering- there is a Hard Cap on how far your ships can see into the Void- 15 parsecs to be exact (or the same distance as the Eyes give you) so don't bother adding more sensors than that.

Yeah, Loupdinour got that reversed. With GGB, survey modules take up space, but cost nothing.
