Expansion Purchase Question

TA requires DA, so you're best off getting the Expansion Bundle.

Just know, the overhauls done in DA are still existent in TA. These wide-sweeping things are:

-Super Abilities ~ notably one that DL->TA user have questioned is the Yor Super Isolationist limits max speed to 3 parsecs a week. Some ppl who jumped DA thought this was a bug.

-Asteroid Mining ~ can upgrade asteroid fields to increase production (soc/mil) to a certain planet.

-Espionage overhaul ~ this one you'll see a HUGE change in my friend...

Yep, TA builds on the feature set of DA, so you'll need DA as well.

The expansion bundle includes both for $45, whereas buying them independently will cost $30 each.

There is one MAJOR bug. A possible game killing bug.
Tech research will double for no reason.

Example: Say it takes 10 turns to research 'weapon theory'. Well lets say on my turn I buy 5 research facilities then click the turn button. Ok, now it should only take about 5 turns for the research to complete. But NO! When you look at the time it takes to research 'weapon theory' it is now 20 TURNS.

I don't know why this happens, it seem random how and when it does. I have noticed that sometimes races don't even build militarys even on the harder levels. So it seems to affect the A.I. also.

The game is AWESOME except for this bug.
My suggestion is wait and confirm that this has been patched. Once it has been, this is a must have for 4X gamers.

I got killed by this bug just once. I was attacked by a race that had heavy research in the 'missle' category. I started to research missle defences but with every new upgrade the time would double to where it would take 80 turns to research level 1 'chaff'

RazorRick: We DO read the forums and will fix bugs that are reported.  Don't discourage him from buying the game and getting accustomed to it.  Besides, he may find it useful to spend some time playing DA first anyway.  Because Fiveburgs is new to Stardock games he may not know about our level of after-the-sale support.  By telling him not to buy the game, you may inadvertently cause him to think that we have no intention of fixing the issue you are reporting, which the rest of us know is not the case.

I understand your point, the guy asked me a honest question. I gave him an honest answer.
I wasn't in anyway telling him to not buy the game. As a matter of fact I believe I told him it was a 'must have'.

Actually, I believe he only asked if he should bother getting DA...

I own the original Galactic Civ 2, and even though I don't play it all that often at all, I was looking into buying the TotA expansion. Then I realized that there was the DA expansion and I was wondering if I should bother buy DA. Any help would be appreciated.

If you want TA, then you will need to get DA as well since TA requires it.
