I certainly consider TA a worthwhile purchase, but there are bugs and a number of niggling flaws/omissions.
The most crippling one is one I haven't myself noticed but does seem to affect a lot of people, which is the technology cost inflation bug which makes technologies increase massively in cost. It is possible I might simply not have noticed this was happening to me.
The Mind Control Center is still broken, although now it does nothing rather than it's previous effect of giving +100 to your economy.
The new tech trees are riddled with a few obvious mistakes (Thalan lacking access to Battle Station Mark I, a number of races lacking mining starbase modules), and a larger number of things that are either errors or questionable design decisions:
* The Drengin research with Slaveling Imagination labs. The Korath start out using the slaveling labs but then switch half-way to using normal research buildings. This looks weird, especially as the Korath follow the Drengin in having slave-based manufacturing.
* races lacking certain Trade Goods, Super Projects and Galactic Achievements seemingly arbitrarily
* the entire situation with morale buildings (seemingly the Terrans and the Arceans have everyone beat, and the Altarians and Drath are particularly screwed).
That's most of what I can think of, although there may be others.
