moving customs ships into TA from DA

Hi,

I felt sure that someone would have addressed this by now, but after combing extensively through the forums I haven't turned anything up.

I'm trying to figure out how to move my custom ships from Dark Avatar into Twililght of the Arnor. When moving from GalCivII to Dark Avatar, all that was necessary was to move the two ship file types - the XML doc and the .shipcfg file - from the Ships folder of GCII to DA's Ships folder. I've done that for TA, and also moved the files for my custom ship style, but my DA ships are not showing up in TA.

Does this have something to do with the new ship textures in TA? Does the graphical engine's overhaul mean that the code from DA no longer is "complete" for use in TA? I heard about something similar happening with people's custom races. I also noticed while trying - futilely - to recreate one of my simpler ships that not all the old DA hull jewelry is there in TA. It may be more accurate to say that the same hull pieces are in TA, but some of them look so different as to be almost unrecognizable. I wasn't able to recreate my ship because some of the pieces either weren't there or had changed appearance so drastically that the ship no longer looked like what I had designed. The hull piece size ratio on some pieces seems also to have changed, as I had to adjust sizes differently than the base DA ship design.

If anyone knows  something about this issue, please post! The ship builder is my favorite part of these games. I would log in just to spend hours creating ships, and the only reason I would play a map was to see them in action. Some of my ships had hundreds of pieces, many of them internalized, making them practically impossible to redesign anew. Any insight you can grant would be much appreciated.

Try changing your custom ship style tag into "S0", the Terran ship tag. Your ships and templates might not be working because they're attached to ship style that the game doesn't recognize. I've got quite a few ships that were downloaded from the library that work despite being from Dreadlords and DA.

Also, if your ships are as intricate as you make them sound I'd like to see some screenshots.

I had this problem too. This is what I found works. Load a game from DA where your target ships are available and moddify them (I added two lights, nothing pieces) and save as them as templates under new names (i.e. Cruiser-->Cruiser Twilight). Then copy them from your DA ships folder in My Documents and paste them into the corresponding TA folder as well as the TA ship templates folder. I don't know what changes between the old save and the new save other than the name, but it worked for me.

Hope that helps.
