tech tree editor from TA and I'm an idiot.

Ok, I have just spent a little while going over the various posts and I can't seem to find an answer for this.

I've used the tech tree editor to create a few minor techs to play in my game, and after I save it to the mods/default folder, the techs I created haven't shown up.

I know, I'm stupid and being very vague here, but help!
