Campaign: Nightmares and economy

OK. I've done conflagation by using economy treaties, setting up economy starbases and having plenty of colonies so the population builds up large quickly, to over come the economy nightmare with starting with such a large defecit.

But I cannot do the nightmares mission. You end up with a defecit of roughly -650 per week, this is hopeless. In next to no time you can easily end up with a balance of -20,000. How on earth are you supposed to do this mission. The economy is rediculous.

Any suggestions?

Sadly, right now the Terror Star techs are available via the Iconians, that'll shorten the game to about 15-20 weeks.

If that ever gets changed, then I'll worry about the logistics in pulling that mission off.

The techs I can get straight away by trading with the iconians with the tech I start with. the problem is that 1 constructor gives you 10% build so I figure you have to use 10 constructors and you just simply lose too much money too fast.

1 constructor only gives 10%? Ok, I missed out on a patch or something since I've last played w/ Terror Stars (this mission to be exact after launch) they added 20%.

If you fast-buy them with the max financing option, that should lessen your money drain in the right-now. After you get all the constructors you need and the TS built, you can go into the red all you want. If I'm just having a memory lapse, then get yourself at least one other planet w/ a starport and then fast-buy 2 of those puppies a week.

Totally ignore building anything on your planet(s) beyond making sure your 2nd one has a starport and only focus on the constructors and you should be fine.

BTW if you get it built and it doesn't destroy the star, you'll need to turn ON battle sequences as having them off seems to be halting a TS doing it's job.

Buying the Terror Star techs from the Iconian would be the easiest strategy, than quickly construct the TS and wait the ten turns through.

I don't know about you guys, but my game encountered a bug when blowing up my sole star system. My solution was to establish a colony in a different system, and defend the TS until it's fully deployed.

Then victory.

OK. I've actually done it now. only the first 2 constructors give you 10% then the next 4 give you 20%. This makes it easier. I noticed I need to have a colony outside of the system to win though.
