Problems Updating Galactic Civ 2; Dread Lords

Is there any way I can update gal civ 2 DL and the otehr games WITHOUT using Stardock Central? I tried updating for the menu that opens when you start the game, but it goes to Stardock Central. Help please!

No. To get to the latest version you need to use Stardock Central or Impulse.

Is there a reason you don't want to use that method? I assure you, neither program has had any record of causing harm or having spyware/malware.

basically, sc won't work on my computer, but impulse will. but I cannot update DL as it tries to make me use sc, even if I click update in impulse!!

That doesn't make much sense--you're saying if you try to update *in impulse itself*, it runs SDC?

Yes. if i click update through Impulse, it links me to the game startup page. There is and update button there, and if I press that then it takes me to SC.

That's not the same thing, then. Impulse is just running the game instead of updating in that case, which makes more sense; the Update/Run buttons could be confused. If you post about this in the Impulse Beta forum, the Impulse devs should see it there.

Meanwhile, what exact issue are you having with SDC itself that prevents you from updating?
