ToA also run at Old & Slow rig?

I've d/l demo and have no problem playing Gold Edition (DL + DA)

I love the game and like to buy a download version, here is my question:

1)  is my machine capable to run ToA smoothly? Not best graphic of course, I am OK with medium setting.  For ref, my last finished game is Civ IV and I am happy with the speed / graphic (not great, but the game is)

2)  if I brought the Ultimate Package and find that I can play with ToA, can I just "uninstall" the ToA and keep DA?  I am not looking for refund or else, this game should last so long until my next upgrade.

My really slow and old rig:

CPU: P4 1.8GHz (single core, not the dual) / 512MB RAM / Win 2000 Service Pack 4 / Gigabyte Radeon 9200

Thanks

Andy

If you can run DA acceptably, TA should be fine. TA does not replace DL/DA in any case, so if you get the ultimate bundle you can play whichever you choose.

Hi!
My really slow and old rig:
CPU: P4 1.8GHz (single core, not the dual) / 512MB RAM
End of quote

My proc is even worse: P4 1.5GHz, but I have 1.5 GB RAM, so it can run DA up to large-all-abundant quite smoothly. In this "density" I've never tried anything bigger, because I can't stand such a size. ;)

With 512MB you're probably limited to medium all-abundant galaxies, if you don't want to wait 10 minutes for a comp to process each turn.

I'm running it on an Athlon XP1800+ with 768MB ram and a GF4200ti (64MB ram). I get occasional issues from my Nvidia driver, but other than that it run's fine. Just expect turns to take a touch longer than a faster rig! ;o)

Both DL and DA run fine on my old machine.

AMD T-Bird 1.0 GHz, 1250 DDR RAM, ATI Radeon 9550 vid. card.

Mind you, I have anti aliasing set to "0", and a few graphics "bells & whistles" turned down, but I can play a large galaxy map with abundant-all with no problems.
I recently could only play on medium galaxies with only 512 RAM, but with more RAM now, the game plays well.

Invest in more RAM would be my advice. ;)

Just a note. I've added to 1G Ram, brought the ToA. Running smooth, game is great (not fast, of course), graphic is much more better than DA.

And the great thing about the graphics being much better then DA is that they also use up a lot less memory, so your getting more for less from your computer! Enjoy the game mate, it's awesome!
