ToA Purchasing ascension starbases doesn't fully switch ownership

They're technically "mine," but the AI still gets ascension points.

It's funny really, I can see the starbases, they still show up as mine, but after purchasing three ascension starbases from the Torians (for quite a tidy sum), the game still gives the Torians the ascension points.

I'm having just the opposite problem. Made an ascension starbase because I needed the life support range to get to the other side of a Gigantic map, realized everyone hates me because I was trying to ascend, so I "helpfully" gave it to the Torians.

Now the Torians have the starbase and the ascension points, and I still have the diplomacy penalty.
