Problems with custom tech trees

I don't know if I am doing something wrong but my game crashes if I try to use a custom tech tree.

tech trees made with the tech editor. i have the same problem. glad to hear its not only me

Yeah I think I need a tutorial to figure out the tech editor. I was lost the moment I turned it on.

I loaded an existing tech tree, altered it a bit as a test, saved it under a new name, then selected it from the in-game menu for a custom race, and it worked fine.

oh Ok, I'll try that. I just need to find what folder the individual tech trees are located.
