Please fix the Metaverse so I can submit my game. I've been trying for two days. I believe other people have been able to submit their games in the last two days. Why won't mine go through? I use version 1.021. Does that have something to do with it? I surely hope not...

Well, It seems my account is up now, AND my two games are submitted as well, so I must be registered, even though I never got past the error messages. At least im on the list now!

The CDG website has begun work on our own HOF for Galciv. Not sure when it will be done but should be asking for Beta testers in a few weeks. It will function the same as the metaverse accept the AI cannot download information of course. Just wanted to make the announcement.

Ok, I have fixed the bug when trying to Register your player.  If you encountered this problem don't worry because your player should have registered.  The error was occuring after the saving of your player registration.

As far as the submission problems.  Lets tackle most of these on an individual basis. 

Apollo43 - It appears that your submissions are working correctly now.  Was there anything you changed?  Let me know if you are still having submission issues.

Gwyned - It appears that you have recently upgraded to Drengin.net.  Because of this, GalCiv is now sending your Drengin serial instead of your GalCiv serial.  However, you are registered with your GalCiv serial.  So the Metaverse is not looking at the new scores.  Now part of the problem is that you can only have one serial registered so as soon as you regester with your Drengin serial you will no longer be able to see your GalCiv serial scores.  This is a known problem.  Either today or tomorrow I will try to implement a system where you can convert your Galciv Serials to your Drengin Serials.

S W - It appears your submission worked.  Let me know if you continued submission problems.

Joe Bfstplk - I was able to see one of your submissions that failed.  From the data I have I can see you are using 1.021.  Part of the data that we received was corrupted.  This could be due to a bug in that version.  Please upgrade to 1.04 and retry to submit your games.   After that if you are still experience problems please let me know.

Cataleptic - I do not see that data for your last submission so I suspect something on  your end that prevented the data from being sent.  Are you behind any firewalls?  or anything else that may block data from being sent.

Liquid998 - When submitting your scores you are submitting them with a Playername of Liquid998, however, you are registered using the playername of LiquidChaos.

KLStrafford - When submitting your scores you are submitting them with a Playername of KLSTraffrod, however, you are registered using the playname of KLStrafford.

Ok, thats all I have at the moment.  If I missed you I apologize. Please repost your problem.

 

Desert Fox, I will try to anwser your question on how scores are calculated from the metaverse point of view.

The score that you see in the game is what is submitted to the Metaverse.  There are two execeptions to this rule.

1) Since the new scoring system, older games (prior to 1.04) are modifyied so that score is based on similar weighted score that 1.04 now uses.  This is done so that all submissions are on a level playing field.  All previous submissions for older games have already been recalculated.

2) If you have done some heavy modifications to the game then you are at risk of over modding the game and surpasing some of the boundries within the game.  If this happens then a score of Zero will be submitted along with Anomolous game level.

Once the metaverse has received  your score and recalculated based on your version, the basic computation for the Overall score is:

The Sum of all your scores divided by the Squareroot of the TotalNumber of games you have played. 

Also, for people who have not submitted a game in a long time their scores will decrease with age.  You must continue to submit new scores to prevent your scores from aging.

The aging works pretty much like this

Scores older than 30 days take 90% of the calculated value.

Scores older than 60 days take 80% of the calculated value

Scores older than 90 days take 70% of the calculated value.

Scores older than 120 days take 60% of the calculated value.

Scores older than 150 days take 50% of the calculated value.

Scores older than 220 days take 40% of the calculated value.

Scores older than 290 days take 20% of the calculated value.

Thanks for being on top of these submission problems. No. I didn't change anything. But one interesting note that may have effected it was that the first time I submitted the game I had won accidentally by Alliance victory. I had an Alliance with all but the Yor and one of the other races wiped out the Yor and so the game ended giving me an Alliance Victory. When I replayed that same game, it went on for another week because the Yor was not wiped out thus no Alliance Victory and I ended up winning via Beyond Human. So I'm wondering if Metaverse had a problem accepting an Alliance Victory with anything less than an Alliance with all major races. Just a thought. I play on a very stable system with a DSL that doesn't go to sleep. I know I had communicated the game results to Metaverse the time it wouldn't show the results based on the DSL modem handshaking I saw going on at the time. But you are right. My problems seem to be cleared and I was able to submit another game I had also been playing later that same day without any problem. Thanks again for the excellent support.

If you can, please add a change that allows us to hit the Enter Key for any screen that wants you to click on the word "DONE". This would be a great help for my Carpal Tunnel which is caused by too much mouse use.

Also, regarding your scoring explanation above, would the scores still age based on the above info you provided even if you have subbmitted another game recently? It sounded as though you were saying that if you keep submiting games at least once a month, none of your scores will age but I may have interpreted that wrong.

Thanks for your continued help on the Metaverse submission issues. I will await a post here describing how to convert a Galciv serial number to a Drengin.net serial. In the mean time, I'll just keep collecting all my saved games and submit them when the switch has been made.

Apollo.  I guess my explantion of the scoring system could have been worded better.  Scores will age regardless of whether you have submitted anything recently or not.  But in order to stay ranked in the Metaverse you will obviously need to continue to submit new games or your scores will eventually begin to fade.

T-Man I thank you sir I understand how you are doing it now. I am not using any mods but a new governor graphic (Angelina Jolie) Frogboy's certified event, plus I do have my own parties mod installed. It does not go outside the perimeters of the game. I kept the values pretty much in line with the other parties.
I still am in the dark on how the CDG Creations League Leader scored 1800+ yet his metaverse score is only 900+? I would think it would be more competitive and entertaining if the same score from the game was transmitted to the metaverse. Applying your aging rules to those would make more sense IMHO. Of course you went this route for a reason even if I do not understrand it. Thanks again for the detailed response.

Would there be any chance of Stardocks help on information to allow my website programmer to create a score verifier program? I doubt you would be willing to release this information but we are crossing our fingers. Our Hall of Fame will be for modded Galciv games, and we plan to use it for other games as well. Our website caters mainly too mod makers for various games. We have had plans for this in the works for quite sometime. The mod cummunity is not doing well with Galciv mainly because no mods can really be used. The entire community would be indebted to Stardock if you did allow such a thing. Thanks.

I also have two games that failed, but I think I might have the same problem as someone else that you mentioned: I upgraded to Drengin.net at the end of March and since then none of my submitted scores show up. Nice catch. I'll keep an eye on this thread for your solution to this.

Ok.  Here is the fix for those of you who upgraded to Drengin.net.  Go to the PlayerReg Screen (http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp).  If you are currently registered with your Drengin Serial then you will need to temporary re-Register with your GalCiv serial.  Then go back to the Player Registration page.  You will have a new option at the bottom to Convert your serials.  Enter your Drengin Serial and press the button.  That should take care of it.

Thanks, but I have been submitting as KLStafford not KLSTrafford or KLStrafford! I am registered as KLStafford and have submitted as such. It is possible that some went in as KLSTafford but there is not and never has been an r in it, therefore that is not the problem. I will try to submit again and let you know!

My games stopped registering when I went to 1.04. Had one last night that wouldn't go through. The game I submitted was started on 1.03 and finished on 1.04

T-Man, you *are* the man! That worked like a charm. Just so everyone knows what I did. I went to the player reg link T-Man provided above. I popped in my Drengin serial in the bottom box and clicked convert. Took about 20 seconds and it was done.

Now my last two games appear in the Metaverse and I moved from 1100+ to 203 on the list. Pretty awesome!

I submitted yet another game and it doesn't show up in the Metaverse either (that makes 8)! I submitted as KLStafford (as I am registered), I was online, and I have patch 1.04. I don't know what else to do. If I am doing everything right, then the trouble must be on your end.

I just submitted ANOTHER game (14 pts) and it still doesn't show up. It was submitted as KLStafford (the way I am registered), I have patch 1.04, and I am not using any mods! How long does it take to show up? So far None of the 8 games I have submitted (2 with patch 1.04) have show up on the Metaverse. And yes, I was also online at the time.

Well, I managed to get my submissions in, but I made the mistake of adding a save game from the previous version. I played against a bunch of fools (literally), but it says the difficulty was suicidal, and the score looks messed up. Can you guys trash that game for me? Cheers.

So I sent a second game in, and I don't see that one...and no overall scores either...does this information take some significant amount of time to update? Do I need to join an empire? Is it something else?

Thanks T-Man. I will upgrade to 1.04 and try again. However, I must wait awhile as I only use the stand alone versions of the patches to the game. I really appreciate your help!

I mentioned this before, I could not submit my games until I created an Empire then all of my games have submitted fine ever since. I have other problems myself. You could join one of the many Empires out there like CDG creations League supporters all the Modders out there. (Little plug for our Empire LOL)

KLStafford - Name is still submitted wrong.  I had a typo in your name when I mentioned it above too so I just made it more confusing.  You are submitting your games as KLStaffrod.  The o and r and reversed.  I have edited your games that have come through to the correct spelling.  They are now showing up.

S W - Your submission yesterday was under the wrong name.  You are registered as "swilhem73"  but submitted under "s w".  I have also recalculated your scores so it displays correctly now.

RealSpices - I looked back to 5/31 and did not see any recent submissions from you. Because I do not have any data from you during that time period I suspect the problem is either with GalCiv itself or your configuration on your system.  Are you behind a firewall?
