A non-internet player asks...

Hi all,

Apologies if this topic has been covered a thousand times, but here goes... I really like the look of GCII and the expansion packs (especially TA... good stuff guys!) but I'm cautious of buying it- I don't have an internet connection at home and I don't really plan on getting one. So- can I play this game without it? I've heard that's I'd have to activate my account online?

Thanks for your help!

I think there is a procedure to activate your game via EMail (which you would have to access somehow - not necessarily on the same computer as GC2).

However, without internet access, the whole process of patching the game becomes a bit more complicated. You need administrator access to another computer in order to install SDC and download the patches so you can transfer them to you game computer.

It's possible, search through the forums, there are step-by-step instructions already there. But it's definitely not as comfortable as having internet access.

You don't have to register the game to play. When you order make sure to have the DVDs shiped to you. That way you can install and play the game without any internet access. But it will be complicated to get the latest patches.

I believe you do have to activate the game game if its DA or TA, don't you? Could someone clarify the point for him?

If you order a disc, the version on the disc will not require activation. However if you later choose to patch it, you will then need to activate.
