Hi, first
at all - i do not know, whether this is going to be done until the end, i just
feel i would have fun with creating a little story around my next custom race
twilight game. I think i will implement screenshots and gameplay into the story
as well. I am just beginning, so i do not know what awaits me - i will let the
game write the story for me if possible. Please excuse, if there are mistakes,
english is actually not my native language and i do this to some extent for
pure practice.
I think i will set the difficulty a bit lower (tough or so), so i am not
forced to give the story a very lame end. Game size will be Huge i think,
because i do not want to spent my whole life with it and it may give the game a
bit forward momentum. Attributes of the race will be based on the philosophical
alignment my creativity assigns to them, as well on tactical thoughts to make
it playable. As said before, i yet do not know where this leads, feedback from
you guys would be nice, maybe that encourages me to continue the story if i get
lazy. ^^ But enough chatter, let me tell you something about The Allegiance Of
Rundan...
The Prologue
Pride.
Pride would be the terran word best describing the people of Rundan. The reason
for this can be found deep in the roots of Rundan history. Pride always was the
motivator that sculptured the way, Rundan society is structured now. The
biggest setback this pride has suffered may be the fact, that the historical
documents of the past of Rundan`s people are very spare. History today is only
a whisper in the minds of Rundan people, restricted to the knowledge a great
war had been fought that almost eradicated any form of life on Rundan. That
actually cannot be overseen once you visit Rundan. The remnants of The Great
War are scattered everywhere on the planet. And all that are living right now
share one feeling about having survived: Pride.
Oral
tradition leaves pieces of a history of two big civilizations once existent on
Rundan. Or lets call it "Ivakan".
"Ivakan" once was another name of the planet Rundan, used by a
second species living on it, the Ivakans. What i can tell you now more detailed
a Rundan might be able to, is that in the beginning of life on Rundan the
evolution found its ways as it does in the whole universe. When the great
landmasses of Rundan drifted away the Great Continents came into existence.
Life found different ways evolving on this planet and so the two precursor
species of the Allegiance Of Rundan and the Ivakan emerged, clueless about each
others presence. It should take thousands of years until the rough sea of Rundan
could be restrained and the species finally met for the first time.
This meeting soon would prove to be their downfall...
At first it seemed the species could live together in peace, but early on the
differences in their cultures started turmoils. What seeithed under the surface
soon erupted into war. Maybe the Civilizations shared more than they would
admit that time - at least their sense of pride. So it may ultimately have been
their pride, that left both populations with a taste of hostility when another
species appeared at the blink of an eye questioning their uniqueness.
One can only call it irony of history that it was the ancestor of one man
significant as well in the future of Rundan, who discovered the technology that
lead to the victory of Chancellor Rundan over Lord Ivakan. Unaware of the
might, their new weapon beared, Rundan`s people destroyed the Ivakans and with
them almost everything else on the planet. It was a population of a few
survivors, The Allegiance Of Rundan, that stood at the challenge to start from
zero.
The Rundans, in spite of standing at the abyss of their existence, succeded
recovering their once impressive culture - and also their pride. They had
proved to themselves in The Great War, that they were the mightiest species in
the world – and the only one on their planet now.
It was a
great landmark in the new Rundan history, when Revan Kurovan made his discovery,
a descendant of the man that destroyed nearly all life on Rundan like he did to
the memory of his own existence.
Pride in
Rundan`s hearts came to unprecedented heights, when Kurovan made his statement
in 2223 on the planet-wide broadcast which reads in our language (not doing
justice to all the rhetoric nuances in Rundans native tongue):
“The laws
of the universe can`t be broken. But we are now able to bend them”.
These words
became monumental, similar to those spoken in 1969 a.d. by a terran.
It was the
group around Kurovan belonging to the long tradition of an old scientist clan
on Rundan, that made the discovery, Kurovan explained in his acclaimed
historical speech. The men around Kurovan discovered a technique, they called
“Entropy Substractor”. The principle basis of this technique is the second law
of thermodynamics as known to the terrans. Entropy is a function of the statistical probability of a molecule to
be in its actual place. The entropy in the whole universe can only increase. In
short – a substraction of entropy leads to a change of the probability in
existence of a molecule at its actual position. By gaining the capability to
canalize statistical probabilities, Kurovan`s men actually discovered the ability
to travel beyond lightspeed. It was this discovery, that again strengthened the Rundans in their
belief that they were an ultimately unique, selected race.
It was
approximately at this time that behind their backs a race called the terrans
began to acquire the technologies leading ultimately to a similar discovery
called “Hyperdrive” in terran terminology.
Unconscious
of this, the Rundan people built their first ship to use the new technology.
Rundans superiority has granted them the possibility to spread their
civilization into the universe and expand. They yet had no clue, what (or who)
will await them.
It is most
appropriate to close this prologue to the history of Rundan with the
oldfashioned words I remember from the time I went to school:
“History
tends to repeat itself.”

topic: Rise
of magnificience
Today is a
big day, a glorious day for us, The Allegiance Of Rundan. We took the step to
the next era today. We once again have proven our magnificience as we already
did in The Great War. It is a shame none of the lousy Ivakans survived to be
witness of our superiority. But the people of Rundan witnessed their own
brilliancy and so we will follow our fate to expand our great race. At least as
long as space is big enough for our magnificience.
End.
The journey into the deepness of space begins…
