Error on Launch on Directx Windows 2003 server

I am getting an error on launch that Directx is not installed.  I have installed this but the error persists.  OS Windows 2003 server.  Any ideas on getting past this?

Thanks

Which game (DL/DA/TA) and what version? Also, does the debug.err file give anything or is it missing/blank?

I checked the DirectX downloads page and Windows 2003 is supported. Can you run dxdiag or does that fail too?

Sorry for the question, but WHY would you install a game on a SERVER OS?

The game is DL. I am not seeing the verion but the Galci2.exe is 1.5.0.0. Debug contains the following:

Debug Message: Version v1.5 last updated on: Thu Jan 11 13:39:19 2007
Debug Message: GalCiv2 is activated.
Debug Message: Checking DX Version.
Debug Message: DirectX version: 9.0
Debug Message: exiting.

DxDiag runs and is show the version as 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

The test direct draw works

I put on the patch for dual core amd processor.

I am using a generic video driver. Nvidia video card

After the Dxdiag it now changed error messages saying that the video driver is too old. I will try updating that.

I could be wrong, but 3d rendering (directx,...) is disabled by default on Win2003.(
(for security measures)
You have to enable it.

Yeah, especially if you're using a generic driver.  Running dxdiag must have changed some setting that let it get that far. :)
