Do I need both expansions?

Hey everyone. I've been playing this game for a week now, and absolutely love it, but I have a question about the expansions. I only have the core game, and I would prefer to only buy one expansion instead of both. Is this possible? Does Twilight of The Arnor need Dark Avatar to run? Would I be missing any features or parts of the game if I went straight from plain GC2 to TA, skipping DA? Thanks in advance.

AFAIK you need DA to run TA, but I can be wrong.

TA requires DA, since it builds on its features. But you can buy the Expansion Bundle, which is cheaper than buying them one by one.

Yep, this is true. If you were to go to the purchase page that Graviton linked you to, and scroll to Twilight to read its description, you'll see this: "NOTE: Requires Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar or Gold Edition. Available April 2008."
