Broken AI's

AI's that are for some reason purposely screwing themselves over

As I've played through twilight of arnor I've found that some AI's are purposely screwing themselves over. They don't try to colonise more then like 3-4 planets they don't build upa military they just let themselves be crushed.

There seems to be a race that does this in every game I play. I play on only immense maps and in those games there is always one race that does this but the thing is, they pourposefuly do this. Meaning theres nothing to hold them back theres no one's attacking them they have lots of colonizable planets in their sector but they just don't DO anything.

I have the difficulty set on normal if that makes a difference.

The same thing just happened to me i was playing with normal difficulty aswell.

one race made no military ships and only got 4 planets

the other race was fine colonizing and made a fair few military ships but they all had 0s in all weapon and sheilds.

They have only recently started updating the AIs.

Try to fight against the Drengin, Korath, and the Yor. The Drengin were the ones to get the biggest update thus far. The Korath and the Yor recieved some of the code used to update the Drengin. The Arceans probally got an update too since they now have a cheaper constructor module.

Why hello again Saruke, I suppose I get to just find and answer all your posts today :D

Well, admittedly, TA's AI is still in development (it IS a Beta after all) and so there are some glitches to be had, but also you are playing on Normal, which does not have all the algorithms enabled (that occurs at Tough). At Normal difficulty, at least in both DL and DA, the AI operates with 75% of the economy and evaluates only the most common human tactics. This could account for some, if not all, of what you are seeing.

Hope this helps.

Yep. Tough is the setting to use. Also, make sure you set all of the civ's intelligences to 'intelligent'. A couple of ticks below this and the AI will just..well you know.

lol so I geuss what I'm hearing is that normal on galciv actually mean "retarted" and intelligent means "normal"

Pretty much, yes. I usually play with them on at least genius level though, they deserve a minor bonus, them being an AI and all.

I have the same problems with some broken AIs which dont colonize anything and building amounts of useless ships. I am playing on tough and above, so its not a matter of the difficulty level.

i upped the AI more and now they seem to be ok but the Terran defenders still had 0 to all weapons/sheilds they and they spamed a few to many space miners but i guess that will be fixed when they get their AI update.
