Interface questions

I've gone through the manual, wiki's and forums as well as possible, but couldn't find answers to these questions that would make my gaming experience a lot smoother.

1. Is there a way to speed up the auto-moving ships?  During long empire building sessions/periods, it's not fun watching dozens of constructors/ships slowly moving around every turn.  For example, if all the constructors moved at the same time, that would be great.

2. Is there a mod or option to add more than one contructor module to a ship?

3. What's the quickest way to set/change waypoints for planets from the Colonies manager table?  I currently do:  Colonies manager -> double click planet listing -> Build Ship button -> Rally Point button.  That's a lot of clicks and navigating windows to change rally points.  I would love a button or hotkey directly from the Colonies manager table.

4. Is there a set rally point hotkey?  One that works when looking at a planet screen or a planet is selected?

Thanks.

1: Sadly, no. You can, however, disable the camera-autofocus on them in the options.

2: That would be pointless. Constructing a base consumes the constructor. Even if you added multiple modules, it still wouldn't build more. You can design constructors on smaller hulls so they are cheaper than the default ones, though.

3: You can use the Governors tab to quickly reassign production and rally points. Not the planetary governor when viewing planet details, but the tab in the civilisation manager.

4: Not that I know.

1: You can also zoom in on some hinterland where no ships will pass. Things will also get better next time you're forced to upgrade your computer.

2: It is not possible AFAIK, but the idea is far from pointless. I'd very much like option of choosing between a big, expensive constructor that could add several modules at once and a swarm of the little guys.

3: The Governors tab can definitely cut down on click overhead, but to get the most out of it, you have to suffer excess scrolling in the Set Rally Point dialog, at least if you like larger maps.

4: When you have planet or ship selected on the main map, you can press T to open the Set Rally Point dialog. Unfortunately, there is no keyboard help once you're in that dialog.

1. Oh well. I hope this is something that is fixed in a future patch. It would be great if we had options to change movement speeds for various ship types.

2. Multiple contructor modules on one ship would make the constructor spam less annoying (see #1). That's the primary reason. Production planets can spit out a good speed constructor every turn. In my current game (huge, I think), I have 35 constructors on screen. If a single ship could upgrade multiple times, that would cut down on the number of constructors.

3. Yup, I do use the Governors tab. That's great for macro changes, but not for micro ones. Once I have a lot of planets, managing rally points quickly is the best way to deal with all the ship production.

Oh well. Thanks for the answers though.

At least one good thing is that the cursor and game isn't locked while ships are auto-moving. You can still make some changes and view any reports/planets/etc.

Oh great! Thanks for the advice that I can zoom into some empty area to speed up the auto-movement time. I always play fully zoomed out in tactical view. With my 1920x1080 resolution, that means a huge portion of the galaxy is onscreen for me at all times.

If I zoom way in or use the quickmap to move most of the ships out of view, I think it goes much faster.
