First off, looks good so far!
I have one semi-major problem that I think plenty of people have mentioned, but there is some trouble introduced into the tech trading by giving everyone unique techs. I was able to trade for several techs that I shouldn't have gotten as humans, and could then build their buildings on my planet. Also, I could trade away techs to other races that they couldn't use, and they would give me useful things in return.
My only question is about why there hasn't been any change to the weapon techs. You have to invest so much research time into the various minor weapon upgrades that it is probably economically more viable to put off even starting warfare research until deep into the game. Also, why do we have to have Mass Drivers I-V? Couldn't we just have a Mass Driver that is upgraded generally when the new tech is researched? It is a pain in the ship designer when there are four or five of every weapon type.
