Why are the Arceans so weak in Dark Avatar?

I don't know if everyone else notices this too but whichever scenario I play in DA, the Arcean Empire usually gets wiped out pretty early. Also, they don't build that many colonies in the initial rounds of the game. I was wondering if this is a bug or that the Arceans just suck in the game.

What level are you playing on? Also you better hope they don't get to strong, fast ships and first strike capabilities can wipe out fleets very quickly.

They don't get much in starting abilites, and the strenght of their Super Ability at the start is also very low. But it grows with the firepower of their fleets. The higher it is, the stronger they are. At the end of the weapons tree they just pwn. ;)

The whole problem for the Arceans is reaching the end game.
Once they get there, they're nasty buggers to kill.
Their smaller navy can wreak havoc on other navy's with that first strike thing.

I dont know if the arceans are weak but i do know that the altarian RESISTANCE is has one of the strongest militaries in the game, eventhough it says that they're supposed to have a weak one

Remember that they are only the RESISTANCE in the context of the Campaign(s) storyline, where, without gong into detail, part way through their civ gets pounded pretty bad.

In sandbox games, without the built-in crush of their civ, they are great. Long Live the Altarian REPUBLIC (which is what they were called in GCII:DL)

what do mean there weak? Let them live long enough and they become a huge empire that is always asking for money, and tech. I try invadign them but it sucks having to invade a planet one at a time, and it's even more annyoing having to Invade a empire THAT TAKES UP A LITTLE LESS THEN HALF THE MAP!
