I want my capital to be right . . .

I've been building a lot of ships according to Star Trek canon and including a few from the Star Fleet Universe games so I can build my starfleet but now I want an Earth that corresponds to that storyline.

So does anyone know how I can mod Earth so that the Capital tile appears in the Europe tile and the Star Port appears in the tile along the western United States.

For those who don't follow along with Star Trek the reason for this is that the Capital of the United Federation of Planets is in Paris and Star Fleet command is in San Francisco.

I don't think you can do that.

The tiles themselves are placed according to some heightmap, IIRC. But the buildings (much like the initial colony on new planets) are then placed by the program.

And, that's really toooo bad, pndrev! Although pure random has its appeal, at times.

Just trying to figure out how to simply implement two extra type of upgradable terrains (Coastal Integration & Harshland Conditioning techno related surface tiles) within DA concepts of grey_scale raws and height fields gap restricted to built-in defaults is and has been a serious "flaw" to my modding attempts for X-Worlds. Here, crossing fingers for the "new" TA system & methods.

Now, placing a Capital ON a specific spot out of a 72 tiles pool only may be a different issue, but it's the kinda of control which may very well squeeze into another pet-peeve of mine - triangular_hexagonal driven surface maps / with three more planetary layers; Atmospheric, Underground & Orbital included. And, AF_Ronin -- What about a true scenario workout with the upcoming TA editor(s) - would that fit your needs?

Still working very hard at it... just last week, i went on a rampage with the technology tree and ya know what - (similarly to the new TA multiple variations), you simply won't recognize the DL/DA defaults. Most tech slots have been renamed, some calibrated with different values/costs/effects, with entirely new nodes and pathways.
I'd say the mod will in fact become some kind of semi-TA type of stuff tailored straight in_&_out for DL.

Huge endeavor, lots of analysis and careful refitting. In the last few days, i've even been thinking about adding four more Capitals, and a whole bunch of Trade-Goods (inspired by X-Com, of course)!! ;)

If only i'd have had the TA editors - before.

Found a way to resolve my problem. All I need is the capital to appear in Europe. I can always decommission the Star Port and put it where I want. However I just downloaded TA Beta and the Earth Tiles are in different spots. Anyone know if I can move the tiles?

there's no code for setting a specific tile to be the capital. it's always random.

I know that its random, so I just kept restarting until I got it. Changing the starport is the easy part.

Duh - restarting until everythin' shows up the right way! Now, why did i not think of that one? :) :)
Indirectly you could simply change the picture of Earth and the tiles would follow your draft like slaves of a master.

Be aware that excessive restarting via ctrl-N can mess up the difficulties of the AI players.

So you use ships from the starfleet universe, nice. I think that would make a great mod for this game. Anyone here ever place federation and Empire, sweet game but the rules take for ever to play but the cpu could make that more reasonable.

One thing if I am ever brave to try is try to build capital ships from Renegade Legion. Now that would be an undertaking. I have the Capital Ship reference book with gee over 200 vessels.
